As a forest ecologist and Professor at the University of Vermont, I am interested in developing and applying the best available science to questions of forest ecosystem sustainability and global change. Much of my current research and professional work focuses on forest carbon dynamics, carbon management, carbon project development, and climate adaptation. I do this both as Director of the UVM Carbon Dynamics Laboratory and on a consulting basis as a senior scientist with Spatial Informatics Group (www.sig-gis.com). But I also have a range of interests including riparian ecology, old-growth forests, fire and disturbance ecology, restoration, and silviculture. I work regionally and nationally across the United States, and internationally in Europe, Latin America, and Asia.I teach courses in advanced silviculture, forest ecosystem dynamics, restoration ecology, ecosystem management, and sustainable forest management.
