Working with key stakeholders, partnering sponsors, and two diverse communities (the Brass Bands community and the South Auckland community), the role demands a nuanced and culturally appropriate approach to community outreach and engagement.

At HD Shanghai, I am the music teacher for the lower secondary school. I deliver a general music course modelled on the Cambridge Lower Secondary Curriculum framework to roughly 240 students a week. In this role, my responsibilities include designing the school's music curriculum, unit planning, assessment design and delivery, and report writing. I also lead the schools Chamber Orchestra and Choir, preparing them for performance opportunities within the school. Ultimately, my goal at HD Shanghai is raise the profile of the arts within the school while at the same time ensuring that all students are given equal opportunities to explore their own innate creative abilities.

At Ferguson Intermediate, my role includes curriculum development for both year 7 and year 8, coordinating our co-curricular program for the arts department, and working with key people who have a vested interest in the growth of the arts within our school.
