Mynd Calendar - iOS Smart CalendarMynd Calendar for iOS is an HTML (PhoneGap) based app with portions written in Objective-C. My responsibilities include providing low-level APIs and services for the UI portion of that app. This entailed:- detection of changes to the user's calendars and sync said changes to the Mynd service- provide collection based storage for data used by the UI- persist above collections to local storage on the phone- sync collections, as needed, to the Mynd service- update collections with information from the Mynd serviceThe above are implemented in Javascript and Objective-C.Also responsible for various housekeeping tasks, such as renewing team development certificates, doing builds, etc.

Platform Email support for AndroidMember of a small team that produced platform email support for Motorola's first Android based phone. My responsibility included the design and implementation of the "sync engine" portion of the mail support. This included the synchronization of the phone with remote email sources, persisting email data on the phone, and handling phone connectivity. The sync engine supported a generic email protocol API that allowed new email protocols to be easily added. Protocols supported by the platform included Active-Sync, IMAP, and POP. All development was in Java with database development in SQL.

Good Mobile Messaging – Client TeamGood Mobile Messaging (GMM) was a wireless email service. The GMM client runs on Windows Mobile, Palm, and Symbian devices and is implemented in C++.I was hired to help debug low-level service problems with the original client implementation for RIM 950 and 957 devices. The major issues included message flow stalls, low/corrupted memory, and the odd random crash. From there I joined the team responsible for porting the client software to the Windows Mobile platform (PPC and Smartphone). Areas of responsibility included data connection support, device power management, application timers, “Over-The-Air” (OTA) installation, and general work to support new devices. My last position was on the client architecture team. That team was tasked with simplifying and improving the GMM software base.

Internet Image Manipulation and Delivery - E-Color Enterprise ImagerEnterprise Imager was an enterprise product that provided the same color correction as the True Internet Color system (see below) while adding the ability to zoom/resize, pan, scroll, and rotate images. It consisted of an imaging server written in C/C++, several Java servlets that provided the front-end to the system, and HTML/JSP “viewers” that provided user access. The base system was licensed from a third party with the server supporting Windows (NT/2000) and Solaris. The system was brought in-house where I assumed responsibility for core server issues (enhancements and maintenance) and communication with the front-end servlets. I took responsibility for initial test plan development for the server and viewers to assist in meeting schedule deadlines.Internet Image Color Correction and Delivery -True Internet ColorTrue Internet Color was a color correction and delivery service for web-based images provided as an application service by E-Color. The system consisted of several back-end servers for color correction and image management that E-Color hosted and customer web site deployed servlets for communication and cookie management. I was a member of a three-person team involved in the design of an all Java replacement meant to address performance and scalability concerns with the initial version. My primary focus for the design was on directory services, communication, and overall system management.

Web-Based Configuration - Network AdvisorNetwork Advisor is an extension to the standard Advisor product to address specific configuration problems of the Telecommunications industry. I was a member of a three-person team that investigated the issues involved, then designed and implemented the solution. I personally developed the core Java package that provided the extensions to Calico Advisor.Web-Based Configuration - Calico AdvisorCalico Advisor was the Java replacement for the E-Sales Configurator intended to addresses scalability, performance, and reliability issues. It was a completely new design implemented on BEA’s application server. As a member of a large team, I was responsible for development of all required JNDI based services. I also assumed additional development tasks to assist the project’s timely completion.Web Based Configuration - E-Sales ConfiguratorI assumed the maintenance and development responsibilities for the network and mid-tier portions of the E-Sales Configurator. In the process I developed a simple wire protocol to streamline the data communication over TCP/IP. I was involved in improving the scalability, performance, and reliability of the product.Sales Force Automation Marketing Encyclopedia - Smart DeliveryAs a member of a group developing a client-server-marketing encyclopedia, I was responsible for the client communication component. Communication was accomplished using a proprietary protocol over TCP/IP. The client supported Windows (95/98/NT).

Integrated Small Business Application - Big BusinessI ported the company’s 4GL based application, Big Business, from the Macintosh to Windows. I then joined a small team tasked with moving the product to Visual Basic and Microsoft SQL Server.

Novell 32 bit TCP/IP StackI was responsible for the delivery of configuration, test (Ping, TraceRoute, etc.), and TCP/IP statistics monitoring Windows applications for Novell's 32-bit TCP/IP client stack.TCP/IP Suite - Mobile WorkPlaceI was project lead for a four-person team that developed a mobile version of LAN WorkPlace (see below). The components of this project were adopted by the NetWare Connect product for its Windows dial-in support.TCP/IP Suite - LAN WorkGroupAs a member of a group that developed a server-installed version of LAN WorkPlace, I was charged with developing the configuration methodology.TCP/IP Suite - LAN WorkPlaceI was project lead for a two-person team that developed the file transfer portions of LAN WorkPlace the first TCP/IP application suite to include Windows specific applications. I also developed a Windows version of the UNIX Talk application for the suite.NetBIOSMy responsibilities included the maintenance of Excelan's proprietary NetBIOS implementation and the development and maintenance of a replacement RFC (1001 and 1002) based NetBIOS.

Help developed Corvus’s NetBIOS emulation. I also developed DOS device drivers and TSRs for print service, hard disk management, and network management.
