Network Engineer

Monitor and support over 1100 store environments, 13 distribution centers, numerous satellite locations and the corporate headquarters. Adhere to company policy for updating Cisco IOS and Nortel firmware for device support and security standards. Analysis of network problems and determining the proper financial and time sensitive response that is required. Provide training and mentoring of new and temporary employees. Create detailed informational guides related to projects, network standards, company policy, and standard operating procedures. Contact vendors for repair, support, analysis, and replacement of failed services and equipment. Vendors include AT&T (T1 & T3 links), Verizon (T1 & T3 links), providers of Frame Relay and MPLS circuits, CCN, Avaya, local exchange carriers (ISDN & DSL), CDW, Motorola, and Cisco. Maintain software systems for the Network Operation Center monitoring. Software includes Solarwinds (stores, DCs, Corp locations, and F5 load balancers for Ecomm), Store Database, CDW, Network Atlas, Network Wiki, and Cisco WCS. Manage Remedy incidents with appropriate work updates for tickets ranging from low to Critical. Provide detailed communication to the appropriate departments for incidents and projects in a timely manner. Work independently and in a team environment to meet time sensitive goals.

A consultant of Teksystems in which I was placed at Kohls.

Held responsibilities to configure, install, and maintain network infrastructure devices and support for 600 employees, 40 servers, 80 workstations, and over 300 thin-clients. Provided training for new users on new and existing systems. Ensured network documentation matched the existing standards and practices. Communicated with the appropriate departments when requesting or providing information. Worked independently and in a team environment for the completion of tasks and projects.
