Curate maps, apps and data for DC HSEMA through building and maintaining an Agency Map Library, and as well as an Agency Operations Hub Site. The Map Library is a SharePoint website that attempts to organize and share all of the map resources related to emergency management in the District of Columbia. The Library contains online and pdf map content that I have created as well as map resources that have been created by other agencies and companies around the District and the Country. The Operations Hub Site is also a collection of maps, apps and online resources organized to help operators and analysts perform their jobs. The Hub Site is intended to be a more focused and operational site, used by operators in the steady state and curated in the moment an event is approaching or occurring. The Agency Hub Site is built using the ESRI's Hub Site tool.

Helped to update the Agency’s situational awareness systems and viewers by working to populate and administer the District’s Public Safety Portal, which is a mapping platform for the District of Columbia's Public Safety Community. The Platform is built using ESRI's Portal for ArcGIS technology. Also, worked with ESRI and others within the Agency to build a new situational awareness system for the Agency that combines ESRI platforms and apps with WebEOC databases and interfaces. The system is the Agency’s new system of record and is used to inform leadership of any ongoing or upcoming information that will help them understand and respond to incidents and disasters as they threaten and impact the District.

Provide spatial data creation, spatial analysis, static map production as well as online visualization of data through maps, apps, dashboards and websites. In this role I work with all HSEMA Divisions and Bureaus and coordinate with all of the Agency’s District, Regional and Federal Partners.

Support activations in the District’s Emergency Operations Center by providing event maps and populating the EOC common operating picture with event data. A big part of these efforts include coordination with different District, Federal and Regional partners around planning and response efforts for the disasters and large special events that are coordinated through the EOC. Some of the more significant events that I have participated in during my time with the Agency have been, Fourth of July Celebrations, the Blizzard of January 2016, the Papal visit in the Spring of 2016, 2 Presidential Inaugurations and the COVID-19 pandemic.

Created a "Level 2" HAZUS database for the District and running 10 HAZUS flood stage scenarios for the District using the "Level 2" HAZUS database, which produced reports of anticipated structural, human and financial damage to the City, connected with the different flood stages.

Worked with FEMA in the Mapping Analysis Center, helping to give GIS support to various departments within FEMA. The position involved map production and analysis for disaster response and mitigation. GIS software and tools used in the position included ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, Google Earth and Hazus.

Worked on an internally funded project that analyzed DC Government owned building rooftops in order to determine the best locations to place solar panels, in order to generate the most solar power. The project used DC GIS data, ESRI's Arcmap and ESRI's Spatial Analyst extension to perform the analysis. The final results were organized and presented using ArcGIS Online.

Worked on a project, with DC Government's OCTO Geospatial, researching and collecting the dimensions, bearings and attributes of the federal reservations located in the District of Columbia. The project involved gathering data from DC GIS, the District of Columbia's Office of the Surveyor and the District of Columbia's Office of Tax and Revenue. The data was collected as part of Washington DC's "Vector Property Map". The "Vector Property Map" is a geographic information system that contains all of the property dimensions in the District of Columbia, in vector format. The project used coordinate geography, within ArcGIS to create the vector data.

Worked on a project for the Washington DC Department of Transportation to update the Department’s street vector data with right of way information that is currently stored on raster and paper data sources.He acted as the technical lead for the project. He was responsible for writing supporting documents, with detailed instructions for new employees who joined the project and trained new employees on the procedures for the project. He coordinated the different team members’ data collection, and performed quality control on their work. He is also in charge of creating the metadata for the project. He coordinated between the company and the District of Columbia’s Office of the Chief Technology, the District of Columbia’s Office of the Surveyor as well as the District of Columbia’s Department of Transportation. The project is being produced using ESRI’s ArcGIS and Microsoft’s Access software.

Worked as a contractor for FEMA, in their GIS division, during the recovery and response phases of the Hurricane Ike disaster relief effort. Produced a variety of maps using ArcGIS, which helped to identify and display critical infrastructure, housing resources and areas most affected by the hurricane. It was an intense map production environment. Many maps were produced with short deadlines. The work involved locating and creating the necessary data as well as producing the cartographic product.

Created digital nautical charts using Laser Scan's Lamps software. The nautical charts were part of the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency's Digital Nautical Chart; a product which includes significant maritime features, and is used by the US military. Also, was responsible for the training of new employees on the Lamps software and the techniques and procedures used to create digital charts from scanned paper maps.

Worked as a contractor for the District of Columbia's Office of Real Property Tax Assessments. Updated the District's tax property maps, by drafting new property line work and dimensions using AutoCAD. Created plats of newly created tax lots, which were then sent to the District of Columbia Surveyor's Office. Performed research in the D.C. Surveyor's Office to determine the dimensions of properties that were being altered. Created maps and performed spatial analysis for tax assessors and other staff, using ESRI's ArcGIS Desktop. Updated the office's database of property information, using Microsoft's Access. Installed software and gave general technical support to the District's Office of Real Property Tax Administration.
