CV20 - Garmin with The Demon Ash and an amazing crowd of people. 9,640 nautical miles (17,853) km. The crossing of the Pacific - Quingdao (China) to Seattle - was probably the toughest thing I have ever done. It was a fantastic experience, made possible by the great people I sailed with. We were twenty-six days at sea, sailed six thousand one hundred nautical miles and experienced all weather conditions including flat calm, snow and a “breeze” gusting up to one hundred and ten nautical miles per hour. Despite significant damage to boat and rig we came in sixth and with everyone standing! It’s amazing what you can do when you are out in a big ocean and three thousand miles from land.

Spent a happy few years optimising heat treat furnaces, improving product quality and preventing pinched fingers. Oh and survived an exhaustive HSE "Control of legionella audit". Thanks guys what a pleasure to work with you.

My first wander onto a COMAH major hazard site. COGA unit burning N2O, complex effluent streams, massive tank breathing calculations, running an LDAR program on a Flixborough equivilent plant (KA) and then a year of decontamination after the owners pulled the plug on the site and the surrender of a PPC Permit. Big stuff. Thanks Patricia for being a brilliant mentor.

Probably too long in one place but a young family and other things were taking up my time. Hair turned grey and when I wasn't learning about GMOS and other scary non mining things I was:*Writing applications for three PPC Permits, along with the site condition reports.*Preparing an Environment Statement to gain planning permission for a major pharmaceutical manufacturing development. *Managing compliance with a site’s Radioactive Substance Act licences, including audits, decommissioning and clean down and waste disposal.*Carrying out GMO containment assessments and audits.*Working with members of Cleveland Police Special Branch on security management.* Gaining ISO14000 accreditation for various operations
