I have many years of professional audio experience. I have been recording classical concerts Since the late 1960's. I have recorded in nearly every format imaginable with nearly every type of media. I have extensive broadcast engineering experience, as well as nearly 25+ years of teaching in the fields of physics, math and general science.I was an engineer at WCCO Radio during my college and early teaching years (1964-1984) was Manager and Engineering Director of KBEM (1973-1985) designed and built the facilities at North HS in Minneapolis in 1982.My background also included 16 years of experience in professional audio through the magnetic tape division of 3M. I was a Technical Service Engineer representing 3M in the Motion Picture, professional audio and broadcast industries. I worked there from 1985 until the Magnetic Division Closed in 2000.

Our company records only in the field.Our company has recorded all over the world, but concentrate on live concert recording in the Minnesota area. Digital on Location records 50-60 concerts every year.Digital on Location recorded 12 concerts for the 2008 AGO convention in Minnesota. Recordings are often used by Minnesota Public Radio.In late June of 2014 we recorded 12 concerts in 4 days at the National AGO convention in Boston, MA.Digital on Location recorded 30 concerts in 6 Days for the 2018 AGO convention in Kansas City.We somehow survived the pandemic and our work survived and we are back recording 40-50 concerts each season from September to mid May.

Senior Audio Technical Service Engineer3M Apr 1985 - Jul 2001Technical service in Magnetic recording media to the Hollywood Film Community, major recording studios on both coasts and broadcasters.The movie lots and the technical areas of the studios were my primary responsibility for 3M. The experiences gained working with the Hollywood Film community allowed me to work with many of the legends of audio engineering. They included luminaries such as Armin Steiner, Ed Greene, Doc Goldstien, the late Dana Wood and many others fromWarner Brothers, Sony, MGM, Universal and others. I was a part of the Technical Service Team team that developed and introduced 996, 986, 908, 350 mag film and other significant magnetic products to the industry before the division closed on November 14, 1995.We also developed the baking process for restoring tape suffering from "sticky-shed" syndrome. -
Station Manager, Director Of EngineeringKbem-Fm Jul 1973 - Apr 1985Brought station to present technical position. Designed and built North High facilities and moved station from downtown Minneapolis to North Minneapolis in 1982. When joining station in 1973, it operated school days only from 9-3, when leaving in 1985 to join 3M, it was operating 24/7 as it does today.Hired as a teacher to teach broadcasting operations, I also served as it's director of engineering and Station Manager. When I left in 1985, it boasted one of the largest staffs of student broadcasters in the country - 105. Many graduates of KBEM populate broadcast organizations such as WCCO Radio, Minnesota Public Radio, KSTP, Clear Channel broadcasting and others.

Broadcast EngineerWcco Radio May 1964 - Nov 1981Served as a part-time engineer with WCCO Radio, then the largest broadcast operation in 7 states. Worked as transmitter operator, Studio engineer, Remote broadcast engineer, editor and archivist of the WCCO archives. I worked all hours of the day, night and time of year as needed.WCCO was during that era was one of the largest and most profitable stations in the nation. It was and still is a CBS affiliate. The company who built it into the powerhouse it was, sold it in the 80's or 90's and it now part of CBS/Infinity broadcasters.
