“Socrates and his Clouds” (full-length play of c. 90 mins.)This play is a revival of classical “Old Comedy or “Comedy of Ideas” and includes a singing and dancing “Greek Chorus”. Its themes are perennial ones about the nature of education, the foundations of morality and the problem of how we should live our lives. The play was chosen for work-shopping at the Directors’ Lab at the Lincoln Center Theatre in New York in August 2012 and given its world premiere at the Jermyn Street Theatre in London 4th - 22nd June 2013. The text of the play was published by Oberon Books - Oberon Modern Plays, London, in 2013. “Wittgenstein – The Crooked Roads” (c. 85 mins.)This is a drama about the philosophical genius, Ludwig Wittgenstein. It won the START Full-length Play Competition in Ireland in 2005. It was given its world premiere at Riverside Studios, London, 19th April – 7th May 2011. The text of the play was published by Methuen Drama, London on February 26th 2015. “The Fir Tree and the Ivy” (c. 100 mins.)This play, with an unusual structure, is about integrity and opportunism, loyalty and treachery, courage and cowardice dramatised through the lives of Hannah Arendt, Edmund Husserl and Martin Heidegger. This play won the open-entry blind-reviewed Eamon Keane Award in Ireland in 2006. The Italian translation of the text, entitled “L’Edera e l’Abete”, won the blind-reviewed international Premio Colline di Torino (testo teatrale) 2015. The German translation, “Die Tanne und das Efeu”, was aided by a grant from The Raymond Williams Foundation. “The Oracle at Delphi” (c. 90 mins.)This play, recently completed, is about the elusive nature of truth. It is a companion piece to “Socrates and his Clouds”, in the form of classical “Old Comedy”, including a singing and dancing “Greek Chorus”. “All the Hours” (c. 70 mins.)The play, recently completed, about the nature of religious belief and “a religious vocation”, is a monologue for an actress.
