Doctoral researcher in the Sheppard Lab (Department of Biology, Oxford) and Bioinformatician at Folium Science (Bristol). My research focuses on the genetics and evolution of pathogenic bacteria associated with the global trade in livestock. Bacterial pathogens including Streptococcus spp., E. coli and Campylobacter are associated with zoonotic diseases that pose a threat to both human health and sustainable food production. However, eradicating these diseases is difficult due to these bacteria constituting highly diverse components of the commensal microbiota, with only certain strains causing disease. My research focuses on using comparative genomics and bioinformatics to understand pathogen evolution and identify potential gene targets for the removal of unwanted bacteria.
