Primary Job Duties: General· Manage production resources and interface with other departments to maintain efficient operations.· Participation in the daily production meeting, reporting on safety, quality, productivity and environmental concerns.· Oversee administration of salary workforce in his/her area with regard to salary reviews, vacations, and work assignments.· Work with managers and supervisors to develop annual goals with emphasis on safety, environment, quality, production and cost.· Supports the continuing personal and professional development of department members.· Oversees the administration of hourly work force to ensure reasonable consistency in the execution of labor agreement· Actively promotes and participates in the Mill’s safety programs/processes.· Conducts routine safety audits of employees to ensure compliance and give proper feedback· Ensure that all department personnel are aware of and adhere to safety policies and procedures.· Performs audits, housekeeping and safety related inspections. Promptly addresses any deficiencies noted.· Leads morning meetings with general safety discussion and solicits input from department personnel.· Understand and manage key cost drivers for process under his/her control.· Monitor chemical usage targets while taking a proactive approach to meet or beat targets.· Continue to develop effective training and special assignments for team members· Explore options for further manpower development and reorganization.· Responsible for performance management of department, including instruction/coaching and conducting performance reviews.

Primary Job Duties: General· Review of production and quality results on a daily basis.· Review of operators round sheets, check sheets, log sheets, etc on a daily basis with emphasis on identifying trends that may lead to non-conformances or maintenance needs.· Actively promotes and participates in all elements of the safety programs.· Understands his/her role with respect to the Quality Policy and Environmental Policy and applies these principles to resolving daily issues.· Manages the maintenance of recaust area and auxiliaries by working through the Area Validator with Maintenance Supervisors and Planners to identify and prioritize work with an “open” ear to operator requests.· Monitors work order requests to prevent duplication and/or conflicting work.· Works with other salaried employees to ensure equipment downtime is fully utilized and/or scheduled in order to optimize the maintenance work that can be performed while down.· Leads accident/incident investigation for any occurrences in the department.· Assist with review and approval of engineering drawings and designs to prevent equipment/process conflicts· This area includes two green liquor clarifiers, two kiln/slaker lines with clarifiers and pressure filters, two dregs filters, and other auxiliaries. This area can support 2000 tpd of bleach pulp production.· Understands and enforces mill safety policies and procedures. Ensures that all employees are aware of and adhere to safety policies and procedures.· Ensures timely completion of accident/incident investigations as needed.· Conducts routine safety audits of employees to ensure compliance.

· Participates in department meetings with general safety discussion and solicits input from department personnel.

· Area responsibility consists of boilers (recovery, wood fired and package boiler), lime kiln, recaust area, evaporators, water treatment (filter plant and demineralizer), turbine generators, steam and electrical distribution, and air distribution.· Manage shift union employees to help good run ability of processes in the mill· Understand and enforce mill safety policies and procedures.· Promotes safety first through self-leadership· Performs routine audits of crew to ensure compliance· Strong self-starter and addresses deficiencies within the process promptly· Coordinates daily work between operators and maintenance to limit down time· Adhere to all environmental operational policies· Utilize shift logs to communicate issues / results to crews· Leads shift safety meeting for the day crews· Great trouble shooting skills· Great leadership skills and training skills
