On May 10th, 2013, 33 years of great fun and service to the people of Southeastern Michigan as a television journalist came to an end at WXYZ-TV, the ABC affiliate in Southfield Michigan. As a reporter, news anchor, early morning "snowman" in blizzards, and finally investigator, I have been among the luckiest people on the planet. Detroit is a place where news never stops...where the people are always interesting, controversial, criminal, lovable, sinister, and sensible... where the issues are complicated...seldom straight line...and almost always debatable. It was a job, yes...but more of a professional endeavor that followed fact and fiction, haters and heartache, believers and bullshiters, but there weren't many days when coming to work was a chore...challenging, often: rewarding, almost always, in ways that simply brought a smile, but sometimes in ways that caused tears of joy when those few moments of TV exposure meant finding the help and support some family needed. "Television journalist" was the job so many people saw...and wanted. I turned in a policeman's badge...and got the job, the dream job of television journalist....and lived it, for about 39 years, in four states and my hometown, the Nation' s Capitol.Now, in our work at Bill Proctor and Associates, and through Seekingjusticebp.com, I'm off to do all I can for the wrongfully convicted and imprisoned, the actually innocent. Justice, and freedom for thousands of persons imprisoned for crimes they did not commit is what we all should want, and work for until freedom happens for them and their families. It should never happen in the future....ever, to anyone.
