As founder and president of The AMIDA Group, led and/or served on assessment teams on diverse development programs: including design and implementation of basic education programs in Zambia, Nigeria, and Mali; policy, design, evaluation, and implementation issues in Poland, Hungary, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Morocco, Mongolia, Kenya, and South Africa; consultation on issues of teacher training and banker training programs in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Malawi, Guinea, and Liberia; and assessment/consultation on Palestinian youth issues in the West Bank and Gaza. Principal clients include the U.S. Agency for International Development, SAIC, and the International Foundation for Education and Self-Help.

Managed training programs for this non-profit organization, including three years as Director of Global Training, directing a staff of 40 in Cairo and a dozen experts in Washington, DC working with the Government of Egypt and the USAID/Cairo mission to determine training needs and match students with appropriate training programs in Egypt, the North Africa/Southern Africa region, and the U.S. Managed offices in South Africa and Namibia, and provided similar training services for students and professionals from South Africa, Namibia, Indonesia, the Philippines, India, and Panama.

Served with USAID -- overseas and in Washington in positions ranging from International Development Intern to USAID Representative to Mongolia. Also held positions in Turkey, Nepal, Morocco, and various Washington offices -- as a member of the Senior Foreign Service during the last eight years with the agency. Principal skills developed include strategy development, focused on a realistic assessment of long-term development issues and the obstacles that may impede progress; program development, taking into account host country resources and different donor approaches, ensuring that host government objectives remain paramount; and evaluation of programs and projects that provide practical solutions for future implementation.

Pokhara, Nepal

Served as technical overseer for design and construction of local development projects (drinking water, rural roads, bridges, school roof replacement) in the Kaski District of Nepal. Reported to the Chief District Officer, located in the District headquarters (Pokhara).
