—What Do I Do in this Role?—As part of the mid-market team of Security Advisors for the Falcon Complete team, a restructuring of roles/titles across several teams resulted in my title changing to Security Advisor II to reflect the larger Falcon Complete customer environments mid-market advisors are assigned to work with. Otherwise, the job duties continue to reflect the Security Advisor role duties listed below.

—What Did I Do in this Role?—As a Security Advisor on the Falcon Complete team, my duties include: -Assessing customer’s Falcon environment and ensuring alignment with Falcon Complete standards.-Providing Falcon Complete customers with recommendations that align to improved security.-Creating and recommending remediation for components of CrowdStrike products that may lead to improved security posture.-Working with customers upon identification of misalignment with Falcon Complete standards.-Documenting, updating, and resolving all customer related issues in accordance with established procedures and SLAs.-Developing and providing customers with service reports and stats as requested.-Partnering with internal teams to ensure customer satisfaction.-Liaising with the CrowdStrike support team to help troubleshoot and coordinate efforts to resolve technical issues.—Why Did I Leave this Role?—Due to a restructuring of roles on the Falcon Complete team, my position as a mid-market Security Advisor received a title change to "Security Advisor II" to reflect the larger customers assigned to mid-market Security Advisors.

—What Did I Do in This Role?—I was the Director of Cyber Security at UPPCO (Upper Peninsula Power Company). This broad role covered both cyber security leadership/cyber security program building and technical practitioner duties. I was promoted into this newly created position due to the increasing importance of cybersecurity in the realm of critical infrastructure. —What Did I Do in This Role?—I was the Cyber Security Manager and Senior Cyber Security Engineer at UPPCO (Upper Peninsula Power Company). This broad role covers both cyber security leadership/cyber security program building and technical practitioner duties. It was a newly created position due to the increasing importance of cybersecurity in the realm of critical infrastructure, and it consolidated and expanded all security duties into one role.These duties include:-Cybersecurity leadership, program development (aligning to NIST CSF), and continuous improvement (incl. reporting/auditing, training/awareness, and project management)-Implementation and administration of enterprise defense tooling, including SIEM, EDR/NGAV/AV, vulnerability management, email security, MFA, password management, firewall/NGFW, and deployment/patching solutions-Securing Microsoft AD, Azure AD, and O365/M365 environments (incl. implementation and administration of related Microsoft security solutions)-Incident response program administration and incident handling-Documentation (policies, procedures, user guides, etc.) to support programs/solutions-Open-source tools and scripting to investigate issues, find root cause, and assist in remediation/automation of solutions-Customer service resolving cybersecurity-related tickets and issues as needed/on-call-Oversight of 3rd-party services including MDR and security testing/assessments.-Adherence to electrical/power utility regulation and guidelines (NERC, FERC, MPSC, etc.).—Why Did I Leave This Role?—Promoted to Director of Cyber Security at UPPCO.

Each contract/project took roughly a month (3-4 weeks) for completion of my initial duties, and then had additional time included for support/editing if needed after delivery. —What Did I Do in This Role?—I was hired in January 2020 to fill the newly created Cybersecurity Analyst role at mBank. In this role, I served as the sole security practitioner at a $1.5 billion asset financial institution. As such, I gained significant, broad experience in nearly every aspect of enterprise cybersecurity.I was promoted to Cybersecurity Engineer in December 2020 after 11 months in my previous role. I list the two positions together here because my promotion from Analyst to Engineer was related to exemplary performance, not a significant change in duties.My job duties at mBank included:-Implementation and administration of new enterprise defense tooling, including SIEM (LogRhythm), vulnerability management (Tenable/Nessus Professional), XDR/NDR (Darktrace), CDN (Cloudflare), and application blocking/local admin control solutions (Thycotic/Delinea)-Administration of existing enterprise defense tooling, including EDR (CrowdStrike), email security (Proofpoint), MFA, password management, web proxy/web security, and firewall/NGFW (Fortinet)-Incident response program administration and incident handling-Cybersecurity program development and continuous improvement (incl. reporting/auditing, training/awareness, and project management)-Securing Microsoft AD, Azure AD, and O365/M365 environments (incl. implementation and administration of related Microsoft security solutions)-Participating in the execution or management/oversight of vulnerability/risk assessments, penetration tests, and security audits (including focus on financial institution/bank-specific regulatory requirements).-Adherence to banking/financial services regulation and guidelines (PCI-DSS, GLBA, etc.).—Why Did I Leave This Role?—mBank was acquired by Nicolet National Bank. My security role in Marquette was not retained during that transition. As such, I sought out another role, and ultimately accepted the Cyber Security Manager/Sr. Cyber Security Engineer role at UPPCO.

—What Did I Do in This Role?—I worked as an intern at LucidCoast, a cybersecurity startup in Marquette, MI, focused on Endpoint Management Solutions. The title for the role was Endpoint Management Solutions Team Lead. My duties included, but were not limited to:-Endpoint Management Solutions Apprenticeship program leadership (recruitment, training, and content development).-Endpoint management administration (BigFix).—Why Did I Leave This Role?—This role was an excellent introduction to the world of IT/cybersecurity, but as an unpaid internship I left as soon as I was offered a full-time, paid role in the field. That position ended up being my Cybersecurity Analyst role at mBank.

This was a part-time role I accepted to gain flexibility while pursuing my degree in Information Assurance/Cyber Defense, my initial IT/cybersecurity certifications, and my cybersecurity internship. My duties included, but were not limited to:-Creating/designing instructional class content.-Delivering/facilitating that content to the public via the classes offered by UP Health System - Marquette.—Why Did I Leave This Role?—I left this role when I got my first full-time, paid role in IT/cybersecurity as a Cybersecurity Analyst at mBank.

—What Did I Do in This Role?—I was a Training and Development Specialist focused on retail bank employee training (account opening and lending, specifically) at River Valley Bank (now rebranded as IncredibleBank). My duties included:-Identifying areas of procedural and process-based training needs with a goal of building a fully-featured standard operating procedure (SOP) manual/guide in a dynamic, online environment-Writing procedures for our SOP as a subject matter expert (SME) in certain retail areas-Creating/designing adult learning-focused training materials (presentations, job aids, guides, etc.) for various departments-Delivering/facilitating training for account openers, managers, and consumer lenders in both small and large group settings—Why Did I Leave This Role?—As someone who had always been passionate about tech, I left to change careers and pursue schooling, certifications, and work opportunities in cybersecurity. In order to have the time and flexibility to accommodate this transition, I decided the best course of action was to temporarily work in a part-time role.PLEASE NOTE: Prior to this role, I held several positions in retail banking (including time as a personal banker and branch manager) and higher education. In order to focus on my IT/cybersecurity career and the positions leading directly to that career change, I am only going back to this role on my LinkedIn profile. However, I am proud of this diverse, unique background, and I believe it helps me bring a lot more to the table as an IT/cybersecurity professional. My deep experience in training/learning and development (9+ years), technical writing (9+ years), management/leadership (8+ years), and financial services/banking (7+ years) has helped me immensely in my IT/cybersecurity career already.
