Added a system call mechanism to the kernel, created application libraries (c, X11, Xt, and Xm) containing system call traps, a code address re-locator (linker), and a developer environment including a symbolic debugger and system header files. Worked on Fermilab experiment E-733.Responsible for the set up of a differential and a threshold Cerenkov counter for experiment E-733.Installed and aligned optics, plumbed in gas lines, plateaued photomultiplier tubes, and set up electronics and cabling. Took pressure curves on the threshold counter. Programmed a simulation of the threshold counter that included the diffractive pattern of Cerenkov emission, the quantum efficiency of the PMT, a Gaussian momentum bite for the beam energy, and the Cauchy dispersion formula for the refractive index. Constructed circuit boards that did ECL to TTL/TTL to ECL conversions.

Summer and Winter break work on experiment E-705.Tested amplifier cards for a drift chamber. Replaced low gain photomultiplier tubes including plateauing and timing in. Fortran programming of routines for an on-line diagnostic testing program for the cluster finder logic of a large glass block array electromagnetic shower detector. Repaired the optical fiber LED pulser calibration systems on the detector.
