Genrec has one of the largest steel production and oversize machining workshops in the world. In this role I was responsible for the generation of an entire works turnaround strategy and achieving an increase in production of four times. The project entailed the concept through to commissioning of the re-engineering project to transform the workshop to cater for the different steel requirements.The scope of works included the acquisition of an adjacent property, extensive civil works for new roads and surface beds, the fabrication and erection of 1000t of new structures (11700 sq.m), design and installation of 200t of new trestles, installation/commissioning of 15no new overhead cranes up to a capacity of 120t, 13 new CNC machines, electrical reticulation, automated welding gantries, component handling and tooling jigs, pre-heating and welding equipment, additional bulk gas storage and reticulation, moving of existing machines, establishment of a new fittings production bay and a new apprentice training facility.

Malling products is the precast concrete division of a diversified construction company, Laing O’Rourke.I was responsible for all day to day project planning and operational lump-sum projects aspects of a 440 man precast concrete facility producing bespoke architectural and structural components including tunnel lining segments. I was responsible for monitoring of labour budgets and production schedules and making adjustments accordingly. I also had major input into the new state-of-the art modern precast manufacturing facility in Nottingham.
