Orthopedic Surgery

I am a 35M - Human Intelligence Collector in the United States Army Reserve. I train to maintain basic soldier skills and human intelligence capabilities. I maintain readiness for myself and the enlisted soldiers assigned to me.

I supervised the staff team and residents of a living unit with a population capability of up to 16 incarcerated youth while maintaining a caseload of 1-2 children. Most residents had at least one mental disorder. I assessed, planned, and implemented individual and group therapy within the Dialectical Behavior Therapy model. I conducted treatment consultations and led staff meetings. I acted as a liaison between residents, family members, management, and the care team. I maintained thorough documentation of counseling sessions, group sessions, treatment plans, and daily counseling notes.I worked with my Program Manager to rewrite and transition our living unit from a maximum security facility to a medium security unit. We did this on our own prerogative in order to better foster a therapeutic environment for our residents. I also assisted in candidate selection, conducted interviews, and trained new staff members. I updated and rewrote outdated training resources for our facility. I was a member of the policy team that examined and helped rewrite campus-wide policies.

I provided guidance and counseling to incarcerated youth at Echo Glen Children's Center to help them make good choices in difficult interpersonal situations. I frequently led crisis intervention and implemented deescalation strategies to lead to the safest possible solution. Responded to emergency situations including physical altercations, suicide attempts, and highly charged situations where residents needed to be coached into making good decisions. Above all, my job included relating to and being a positive role model for our residents to help foster a positive, professional environment.
