Forty years ago I decided to become an Architect. At first that decision was based on my intuitive skill to see things in three dimensions, and the ability to draw and communicate those thoughts. Since then, I have learned what has compelled me to follow this profession.Something that is more than the sum of its parts is said to have a “synergy”. For me, to be able to create that synergy is the meaning of Architecture. Many people design and build structures, but it is the synergy of that built environment that determines the quality of physical and emotional impact on the user. So it is with architecture, where a designer tries to utilize his skills to develop a built environment to be more than just shelter fulfilling the function. Architecture strives to be a place that enhances the lives of those who use it.Few things can have a greater impact on the quality of life we have, than the architecture of the places in which we live, work and play.
