Working closely with production and engineering I used quality, safety and design documentation to test the product according to appropriate international standards. The safety critical test environment involved voltages up to 13.8kV, power up to 3.2MW and pressures up to 1000bar. This allowed me to become conversant in a wide range of H&S guidelines as well as gain training in SAP (senior authorised person) skills in order to ensure not only legal compliance but a safe environment for employees. A significant part of the role was the planning and implementation of new infrastructure to complete the £10million center of excellence which is an ISO level 9 clean room. Over a third of the new extension was designated for future test systems including a 6MW regenerative VSD load testing setup. The role also gave me the opportunity to hone skills in 5S and LEAN manufacturing and implement continuous improvements on the area to ensure reliable and efficient output. As well as the above I have had to oversee the programing and setup of all types of automated test stands. -
