His extensive academic leadership includes being a full professor at University College Cork and University of Twente, and previously holding senior positions at Queen’s University Belfast, where he led the School of Electronics, Electrical Engineering, and Computer Science and the Centre for Wireless Innovation.William has a extensive track record in the leadership and management of innovation and developing the impact of, and commercialisation of, public research. His personal research expertise spans wireless communications, antennas, wave propagation, RF and microwave sensors, and medical device communications. He is a Fellow of the IEEE, the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association, and the Irish Academy of Engineering. William is globally recognized for his pioneering work in wearable and implantable medical communications systems.
