Pharmacy Practice Faculty (Part Time)
Responsibility for teaching and coordinating PHR 717, Senior Care Pharmacy Practice, an elective course designed to familiarize first and second year Doctor of Pharmacy students to the clinical nuances and professional opportunities presented by the growing elderly population. Contributing lecturer in PHR 754, Integrated Therapeutics as well as other courses in the Doctor of Pharmacy post-graduate academic program.

In this capacity Dr. Simonson was an Oregon State University College of Pharmacy representative on the Oregon Geriatric Education Center (OGEC) faculty. The OGEC had a five year Federal grant to develop and test an interdisciplinary falls prevention training program targeted at geriatric caregivers. Faculty gave many presentations Statewide to personnel from many different health care environments. Faculty evaluated pre and post-intervention falls rates and developed two peer-reviewed publications including one that was published in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society. Another responsibility under this faculty position was teaching PHR 717, Geriatric Pharmacy Practice which was offered to Doctor of Pharmacy students. As well, he taught part of the geriatric content for PHR 754, Integrated Therapeutics.
