The association worked to engage other parliamentary bodies on environmental issues of global importance and foster dialogue leading to consensus agreement on sustainable policies. The organization worked for balanced solutions that could transcend political ideology and national interests.• Grew foundation funding base through membership-driven program creation and personal connections. • Acting Director General, GLOBE International: Administered a network of over 2,500 democratically elected legislators and members of parliament from over forty countries.• Convened dialogues on renewable energy, climate change, marine conservation, land-based sources of marine pollution, land use and water quality, biotechnology, and endangered species.

• Directed relations with national governments in Asia, Latin America and Africa and the US Congress to advance policy tools and funding for international conservation. Conceived of and helped to author the “Tropical Forest Conservation Act of 1998” to utilize forgiven official debt for conservation purposes, which was passed with bipartisan support in the House and Senate and signed into law by President Clinton. • Guided country program staff in raising grant funds from the World Bank, GEF, and bilateral development agencies. • Worked with governments on land use and built consensus support among stakeholders for conservation strategies.
