After graduating from the University of Warwick in 2016 I joined Infinite Pixel to help start their new 360 videography department. I spent 2 years in this role which consisted of R&D to determine 360 video workflows (a relatively new concept at the time), as well as starting to look at photogrammetry solutions for roomscale VR Productions. This helped lead to the founding of RiVR, the company I now work for. During these two years I also completed adhoc web development work for Xreflow, a software development and digital marketing company based in Southam. Here I began to learn how to code in php, as well as general system administration tasks on linux servers, Wordpress sites, and static HTML/CSS/Javascript coding. I have continued to use these skills in freelane work to this day.In late 2017 I took a gap year in Canada where I lived first in Banff and then Victoria BC. While having an incredible time in a beautiful country, I began to learn C# and managed to seek out a job at a VR Arcade/Software development company called Infusion Edutainment. Using the C# I had taught myself and the Unity experience I had gained while assisting in R&D at Infinite Pixel, I lead the development of several ESL VR teaching applications, including a chat bot using IBMs Watson that allowed students to practice their vocabulary and pronunciation. While in Canada the company I had helped start up out of Infinite Pixel, RiVR, had grown enough to be in a position to offer me a job to return to the UK, in a pure developer role. Starting as a junior developer I continued to progress my C# skills, working on existing code bases as well as creating my own. My main initial focus was on RiVR Investigate, a roomscale Fire Investigation forensic training software that allowed FIs to train in VR, without having to produce burns every single time. This software has become very successful globally, allowing me to take a trip to Singapore where I delivered the software and training on how to use it to the SCDF. I have now taken on more responsibilities at RiVR, leading my own projects and managing other team members. I am continuing to develop my C# and Unity skills, as well as beginning to learn more web based frameworks such as React and React Native, and am generally very excited to see where the XR space goes in the future!
