Transportation Engineer Advanced
CurrentAdvanced Structural Engineering for the Bridge Presevation and Repair Group.Used AASHTO Specifications and Structure Design policy and procedures to design rolled beams and cored slab superstructures. Used design programs such as Merlin-Dash, NCBDS and Microstation.NCBDS Editor, work of the highest level requiring the independent application of professional techniques and standards to the most complex highway structure design, rehabilitation, preservation or critical repair projects. Layout and design of bridges, culverts, and other structures in accordance with AASHTO Specifications and Structure Design policy and procedures. Include structures on geometrically complex alignments and/or with technically complex design requirements, such as continuous or curved steel girders, movable bridge components, trusses and connections. Uses a variety of complex and moderate types of computer software such as STAAD, GEOPAK, RCPIER, Merlin-Dash, NCBDS and Microstation. Checks final engineering computations for layout and design of highway structures. Check final structural plans to ensure completeness, accurateness, and clarity. Final plan check to ensure accuracy and for inclusion of all required details, notes and pay items. Communicate with Division personnel and other stakeholders to determine project priorities, assist in recommending solutions and resolving issues. Attends scoping meetings and field inspections to coordinate with field personnel and other design units, to anticipate field problems and to improve plan constructability.
