About William Speller

I am an economist and programme manager with ten years of experience in the UN and over fifteen working with developing countries. I firmly believe in the development trajectories envisaged by the Sustainable Development Goals and I am committed to working with member countries and the private sector to develop tailored solutions which will serve to ensure a just transition to low-carbon and climate resilient development that protects and restores ecosystems.Prior to joining the UN, I worked as a macro-financial economist at Bank of England, evaluating threats to the global financial system, was desk officer for China and contributed to reforms of the financial system. I was seconded to Reserve Bank of India to lead a team of economists in establishing a new financial stability unit.
