About William Strong
I am a sophomore at the State University of New York of Agriculture and Technology at Cobleskill pursuing a Bachelor of Technology in Canine Training and Management with a minor in Entrepreneurship. I am looking for a part-time job that I can do during the Fall 2024 semester and Spring 2025 semester. When the pandemic shut down the world my aunt got a German Shepherd puppy, but because there weren't any training places open. This led to me and my brother doing different training things with him which sparked my interest in dog training.I get hands-on experience training and handling dogs through canine classes at SUNY Cobleskill. In Animal Science 242 - Canine Training, I work with green/untrained dogs and teach the 5 basic obedience command drill (sit, down, stay, come, heel) that we learn in Animal Science 142 - Care/Training of the Working Dog. During the Spring 2024 semester, I worked with a 6-month-old St. Bernard puppy. During my short time at SUNY Cobleskill, I have been involved in Canine Club and Queer and Allies Club. In March of 2024, the Canine Club held an event called “Dog 101” open to both students on campus and the community where members of the Canine Club talked about different things while others demonstrated with dogs. I was in the basic commands room and talked about the 5 basic obedience commands, timing of marking and rewards, basic engagement, and leash skills.
