Youth Ambassador Program CoodrinatorWilliam Taylor Environmental Restoration & Education Sep 2022 - Jul 2023Phnom Penh, CambodiaThe scope of this GIZ ASEAN project can be outlined in the following broad terms. As outlined in the TOR, the project was successful in the implementation of a youth participation pilot to enhance the involvement of high school students through activities to reduce the wasteage flow and improve solid waste managment in Cambodia. This under the GIZ ASEAN 3RproMar project In cooperation with local NGOs, exemplary businesses/entrepreneurers and selected high schools, the project mobilized young people, in order to share their concerns on and act on pollution related issues, particularly regarding the handling of solid waste in Cambodia and reduction of plastic waste. Through various activities students were trained to roll out a youth ambassadors program, this youth to youth training pilot has continued since it's I ple.entation. The goal of the pilot is to increase awareness, understanding and capacity of young people to positively influence waste management in their communities (i.e. replacing single use plastics, organization/separation of waste and appropriate disposal of waste items and developing capacity along the supply chain to reduce waste produced).Upon completion of the pilot project, leadership was handed over to a local change agent based in Phnom Penh, who was also trained to administer the program, replacing me as the project coordinator. the 3RproMar youth ambassador program continues.
