Golden Home Fitness was founded by William P. Thorpe, MD, PhD. Bill is trained as a medical doctor and biomedical engineer, and has vast experience in entrepreneurial ventures and start-ups in the medical, engineering and educational fields. Bill is a former collegiate gymnast, and has a long history of interest in personal fitness and he understands the dedication involved in fitness training. Golden Home Fitness gives Bill the opportunity to share his passion for a fit lifestyle and spread his enthusiasm for fitness to others. He is a devoted husband and father, and has two Golden Retrievers, for which the company is named.Golden Home Fitness was founded to address an unmet need in the community: In-Home Fitness Training. This need for qualified personal fitness trainers for the home is especially important for those people whose fitness, lifestyle and health needs are not met by the mass produced exercise programs offered by the standard fitness club. Golden Home Fitness clients want to learn how to safely and effectively exercise in their own home using a personalized exercise program. They want to eliminate travel time to the gym and wait times for machines, and they want to control their own schedule. They desire privacy and want to ensure safety and cleanliness. Moreover, Golden Home Fitness clients must be assured of the quality and dedication of their own personal trainer. They want nationally certified professionals who will be able to develop and customize a program to meet their individual needs and time constraints. Club Z! In-Home Tutoring provides 1on1 tutoring to students throughout the greater Merrimack Valley in all subjects from grades Kindergarten to Adult. Tutoring is provided by thoroughly screened and credentialed tutors who work on the student's curriculum to impact results where it matters most, in the classroom. Tutoring is provided in the student's home on days and at times that are convenient for the student and his/her family. Our rates are affordable and competitive and we do NOT require a long term contract. In addition to subject based tutoring (English, reading, math, sciences, langauges, etc) Club Z provides individualized tutoring for all standardized tests such as the SAT, ACT, SSAT, ASVAB, GED, etc). To help students become life long learners we offer a proprietary study skills program that teaches students how to study smarter, not harder.

Dr. Thorpe developed a method and device that could measure precise movements and positions of the human eye. This device was named an "Opthometer". Since the movements of eyes can be correlated with differing states of awareness in patients, the Opthometer could have potential applications as an objective monitor of sedation level in patients undergoing "conscious sedation" procedures or during the wakeup period following general anesthesia. It could also have used forensically for an objective measure of "functional" awareness...or sobriety.Dr. Thorpe founded Opthometrics and participated in both development and fundraising which took the company from concept to prototype stage. Operations ceased in 2007 due to lack of funding.

Puretech Ventures (now PureTech Health PLC) is a biopharmaceutical company focused on the immune, gastrointestinal and central nervous systems and the signaling between those systems. The Company utilizes a cross-disciplinary approach to discovering and developing medicines with platforms in emerging disciplines such as the human microbiome, capsulated devices and digital medicines.

Mr. Thorpe was hired as a US Marketing Manager in the Corporate Accounts Division of Wang Labs. His duties included development and roll out of Marketing Account Planning methods/strategies for Wang's Corporate Accounts. Upon completion, he was hired as a Corporate Account Executive for one of Wang's corporate accounts.

Initially Mr. Thorpe was hired as a Sr. Associate Engineer at the IBM Fishkill Semi-conductor manufacturing facility. After 1 year, he transferred to IBM's National Accounts Division in New York City. He was part of a corporate account team that managed RH Macy's.
