My career aspirations are highlighted by passions for business development, financial/investment service and sports management. Although these sectors are distinct, I am excited to discover ways to develop as an individual by exploring the overlapping areas of these three facets. Stoking this perpetual initiative is my success-oriented mindset, which derives from the competitive sports I play and translates to my educational pursuits and professional ambitions.

Multiple PositionsMccleery Golf Course Jun 2018 - Aug 2021Vancouver, British Columbia, CanadaI started in this position as a 14 year-old with little work experience and was able to grow as an employee and be exposed to how a business functions. Each position I took on was accompanied with different tasks that required me to learn new skills. In my first season, I spent all of my time doing physical labour tasks at the golf course, either working by myself or in a group for long-periods of time. This taught me to work efficiently, be a part of a team environment and to value the quality of the work that I was doing. My manager asked me to move into more customer interactive positions in my second year which meant I had to learn quickly how to create the best possible experience for golfers by engaging in conversation and bringing a positive attitude to each shift. By the end of my second year and continuing throughout the rest of my time at the golf courses, I worked primarily in a shop attendant/cashier position at the golf shop and driving range shop. This meant I sold golf clothing, accessories, merchandise and rentals/fees while communicating with other staff to ensure golf operations were running smoothly. When situations arose, I had to think quickly and creatively to find a solution while not interrupting the calm and happy environment of the golf course. In the midst of the pandemic, with businesses slowly starting to re-open, my manager asked me specifically to try various methods of operation that conformed with the provincial regulations set out for golf courses and give my feedback on what I thought the best strategy would be. The purpose being to help her identify the best approach, as this was a new and confusing experience for everyone. As a competitive and recreational golfer, I loved talking to customers who share the same passion for the game as I do which helped me transition more easily into customer based positions.
