I discovered how nano particles could be used to desalinate water (remove mainly Na, Cl, K, Ca an Mg) in 2010. I developed the technology for the next 9 years finally establishing Badwater Alchemy as a vehicle to commercialization in 2018. I received my first patent in 2021 with 23 new ones following. This desalination technology is rapid (< 10 minute retention time), very inexpensive and requires virtually no energy to operate in its simplest form. The commercial system is built within a shipping container for rapid mobilization. We plan to recycle much of the residuals back into the process as well as mine the solids for eventual reuse. Presently the system fits well for the desalination of produced water, heavy brines and treatment of saline groundwater for irrigation application especially in drought stricken parts of the world. Our process can achieve drinking water levels with the use of a reverse osmosis system as a polishing step which would allow recycle of any RO brine back into our desalination unit.Badwater is growing having expanded to include 11 new scientists and engineers along with the acquisition of additional space for a full scale laboratory, machine shop and fabrication area.
