Executive Coaching/Consulting and Leadership Development

Oversee the direction of the organization via the development and implementation of the strategic plan that guides the service commitment to the members of the association. Responsible for the progress towards NACCHO’s, vision and mission maintaining a high performing organization that effectively supports the work of local health departments (LHDs). Direct overall management and operation of the association, implementation of Board directives and policies, and financial and personnel management. Over the year, successfully developed and launched consulting arm of NACCHO, with positive return in first year. Developed business plan/model for regional offices to launch in summer of 2018.

Implement broad administrative, operational, and resource development for a multidisciplinary workforce and a wide variety of programmatic work. Frequent strategic collaboration with fellow staff, committee members, funding agencies, federal and other governmental officials, partner organizations, and local health departments. Grew grant portfolio by 20% over 3-year span to 30 million dollar, diversified funders both within public and private sector. Implemented a fiscal accountability system and reporting structure, leading to 97% grant spend down rates. Contribute to the advancement of NACCHO’s vision and mission and local health department success through required attention, accountability, and responsibility for activities including personnel management and development; strategic planning; budget management and oversight; program implementation and oversight; internal and external partner relations; and, resource coordination and development.

Design and implement community support services for patients served through the multiple outpatient clinics that comprise the Goldberg Center for Community Pediatric Health. Work collaboratively with Division Directors to identify the support needs of the children and families served in the Goldberg Center clinics, subsequently identifying resources to support those needs. Designed and implemented co-located primary care-mental health program for all clinic patients.

Oversight, management, and service integration of multi-million dollar grant funded programs. Provide programmatic leadership, successfully secured clinical and support services for all HIV positive children and adolescents in the Washington DC metropolitan area; oversee quality assurance and evaluation activities. On average grew budget by 15% annually. Universal fiscal maintenance of grants, including allocation of funds, expense/reimbursement tracking and monitoring of multiple grant funded subcontracts.

Oversight of fidelity and scientific integrity of community based research. Maintain fiscal responsibilities of NIH Adolescent Trials Network community research at CNMC. Supervise research team, maintain community partnerships and spearhead community coalition. Established effective community/researcher partnerships, followed by successful coalitions for structural changes leading to effective health outcomes. Implemented and maintained Community Advisory Board (CAB).

Responsibilities included individual, family and group therapy for HIV positive adolescents and young adults. Provided short-term treatment for medication adherence. Implemented national adolescent/young adult medication adherence and risk reduction intervention for Centers for Disease Control (CDC) study. Coordinated Washington, DC Connect to Protect prevention initiative of National Institutes of Health, Adolescent Trials Network, designed to identify adolescent/young adults at highest risk for HIV infection. Supervised clinical and research training of Adolescent Medicine/HIV Services postdoctoral fellow. Training experience included treating infected and affected youth and their families, implementation of Centers for Disease Control (CDC) adherence and risk reduction study with positive youth and community based clinical and outreach efforts.

Responsibilities included individual therapy, family therapy and parent training for perinatally infected youth and their families. Completed brief neuropsychological evaluations. Facilitated parent/caretaker support group. Provided behavioral therapies regarding: medication adherence, pill swallowing, and school/home problems. Parent guidance provided to optimize adherence. Implemented developmentally appropriate diagnosis disclosure with children and their families.

Responsibilities included individual, group, family and parent training to a diverse metropolitan population. Clinical rotations included a composition of nine outpatient/inpatient services. Provided comprehensive psychological and neuropsychological evaluations for children and adolescents on both inpatient and outpatient services.

Global consultation on service provision for adolescents living with HIV, Kampala Uganda.

Designed and implemented adherence and risk reduction intervention in Gaborone, Botswana and a similar project in Maputo, Mozambique for HIV positive teens.

Technical consultant on care, support, treatment and prevention for young people living with HIV/AIDS. The collaborative serves to synthesize experiences and perspectives of various experts to provide guidance to the health sector to strengthen the response to young people living with HIV.

Collaborated in developing the Second Level Integrated Management of Adolescent and Adult Illness (IMAI) Clinical Learning Program. IMAI are training modules for HIV care in resource poor setting around the world.
