As Director of Business Development, Bill is exploring, evaluating, implementing and developing new business opportunities for ENVARI (formerly known as Energy Ottawa). Mr. Bennett has more than 35 years of experience in the electricity distribution industry in the areas of distribution system planning, design, construction and operation. He has also been a member of the management negotiating team for Collective Agreement negotiations in 2004 and 2013. And played a key role in the utility Rate Applications of 2006, 2008, 2012 and 2015.Prior to the creation of Hydro Ottawa, Mr. Bennett spearheaded Ottawa Hydro's introduction of change management in preparation for the new electricity industry market. Bill holds an Honours bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from Queen’s University, a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Ottawa, and is a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario.Bill's has four children, and enjoyed many years coaching a variety of sports including hockey, baseball, and football.

As Director, Distribution Operations, Bill leads Hydro Ottawa's team of professionals in distribution operations, construction & maintenance. Mr. Bennett has 35 years of experience in the electricity distribution industry in the areas of distribution system planning, design, construction and operation. He has also been a member of the management negotiating team for Collective Agreement negotiations in 2004 and 2013. And played a key role in the utility Rate Applications of 2006, 2008, 2012 and 2015.

As Director, Distribution Asset Management, Bill was accountable for all of Hydro Ottawa's distribution asset management, planning, design, stations construction/maintenance and grid technology. In this role Mr. Bennett was in charge of Hydro Ottawa's Distribution Capital Budget programs as well as the company’s initiatives in the areas of reliability, efficiency, productivity and Smart Grid.

Lead the stations, metering and system operations parts of the Operations team.

Started my career as an engineer-in-training working in the Planning Department - moved through a variety of engineering roles, including PM of the construction of Overbrook TS.
