Finance & Taxation• Evaluated tax positions advocated by the prior CFO and tax counsel related to income tax audits with the IRS and California Franchise Tax Board. Based upon an analysis of the Company’s operations and these tax positions, which were rejected by both the IRS and FTB, devised new strategies that resulted in the successful resolution of these audits and eliminated $15 million of liabilities within a six month period.• Facilitated corporate restructuring and ensured foundation for optimal financial performance through cost containment efforts that resulted in a $4.5 million reduction (31%) in expenses over the previous year.• Prepared the quarterly and annual income tax provision in accordance with ASC 740. Policies & Procedures• Implemented and documented new general accounting policies and procedures which led to enhanced internal controls and increased accuracy of the Company’s financial reporting. Further, such efforts led to a 40% reduction in accounting personnel and the removal of two material weaknesses that were identified in the Company’s prior filings with the SEC. General Management• Created a more streamlined, less bureaucratic structure with fewer layers of management, successfully reducing the workforce by 20% and eliminating reliance on third-party service providers without disruption to the Company’s operations.
