William Bomar, Lmsw Email and Phone Number
As a mental health therapist and social worker at Clarity Counseling and Tuscaloosa Veterans Affairs Medical Center, I provide individual, couples, and group psychotherapy to people with various mental health challenges related to trauma, stress, depression, anxiety, dissociation, and addiction. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Substance Use Disorder (CBT-SUD), and Contingency Management Therapy (CMT) are a few of the evidence-based practices that I provide. I am proud to say that I became fully trained in EMDR therapy under the EMDR Institute which was founded by Dr. Francine Shapiro (the originator and developer of EMDR). After becoming trained in EMDR, I later received CBT-SUD training from The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. I am a licensed master social worker (LMSW) in the state of Alabama, and I received my Master of Social Work from The University of Alabama with a focus on adults and families. I also obtained a Master of Arts in Church Planting with an international concentration from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. I am passionate about investing in others, being culturally competent, and working with diverse populations. During my time while living in Central Asia and working with international students in the Tuscaloosa area, I've gained valuable cross-cultural skills and insights that I'm grateful to hold.On my own time, I serve as a founder and co-coordinator of The West Alabama Trauma Recovery Network which consists of EMDR therapists providing treatment free of charge to first responders and law enforcement. Additionally, I sit on the advisory board for the Alabama School for Alcohol and other Drugs Studies (ASADS).

College Associate Of Outreach InitiativesCalvary Baptist Church Tuscaloosa Alabama Jan 2018 - Jun 2021Tuscaloosa, AlabamaDuring my time here, I grew exponentially. The opportunities I was given are endless and unique. There were days where I was teaching 500+ college students at a time, and other days when I was drinking tea on the floor of international students' homes. Other days I counseled college students in crisis. For 4 years, I never experienced the same day twice. I was stretched, challenged, encouraged, and released to embark on some of the wildest adventures I have ever had in my entire life. Perhaps my favorite adventure was leading a team of 12 to Central Asia for a month, or when I lived on a boat floating down the Amazon river visiting different villages. Honestly, I can't really decide... but I can assure anyone that asks me about this season of my life that it made me better. It made me who I am. -
