I am a specialist construction and procurement solicitor, who originally qualified as a civil engineer. I use my technical knowledge of construction issues to quickly solve legal problems for my clients. As an engineer, I pride myself on providing legal advice that is commercially focused and straight to the point. My practice consists of three main areas – dispute resolution, contract drafting/review and public procurement. In terms of dispute resolution, I represent parties in construction claims, adjudication, mediation and arbitration. I don’t just advise on the ‘legal bits’, I also use my technical experience to help my clients prepare their quantum and delay claims. When it comes to contract drafting/review, I have worked on over 300 individual contracts across all the major forms (NEC, JCT, FIDIC, IChemE and PWC). In doing so, I have developed an expert knowledge of what it takes to make construction contracts work effectively. I use this knowledge to minimise my clients’ exposure to risk and to reduce the likelihood of disputes. Last but not least, is public procurement. Put short, I work on both sides of the fence. I help contracting authorities draft tender documents and run procurement competitions. I also work for tenderers in running procurement challenges. If you have any issues, feel free to drop me a message on LinkedIn.
