I work with the Sensors and Signal Processing Technologies Laboratory at the Michigan Tech Research Institute in Ann Arbor. I am developing sensors, deployments and algorithms for remote sensing with single and networks of radars. MTRI is a leader in research, development and application of sensors and technology to solve critical problems. I work with my colleagues developing hardware and software to support new ideas in active and passive remote sensing systems.

As a member of the Environmental and Emerging Technologies Division, I investigated novel concepts in multi-static radar and electric field sensing, including waveform and filter designs to reduce clutter for distributed, multi-static, sensor networks; and the use of highly diverse networks for image interpretation in channels with fading.I explored system estimates for parasitic SAR, applications of signal processing and inference systems for detecting network intrusions and applications of GIS in reconnaissance platforms.In 2006, Altarum Institute narrowed its portfolio to focus solely on health-care issues. MTRI continues the Environmental Research Institute of Michigan (ERIM) not-for-profit heritage of development of cutting edge remote sensing instrumentation and geospatial analysis techniques for societal good, begun at the end of the second world war in the form of Willow Run Laboratory.

At Technology Service Corporation I led efforts to develop and evaluate the performance of algorithms and contributed discrimination analyses for research efforts investigating features for radars with diverse polarization. These analyses focused on evaluation of discriminants and prediction of radar system performance for example scenarios and considerations of architecture. I developed multiple software tools for this research to extract features from data, perform structural assessment of density functions and produce non-parametric estimates of performance.

Signal processing research in undersea acoustics, investigating utility of Choi-Williams distributions and Hausdorff transforms for detecting transient signals. Notably, Mr. Buller helped in the development and testing of Amron Corporation's home monitoring systems to help elderly people live independently.
