Having enjoyed successful careers in three different industries (manufacturing, construction and commercial real estate) I have learned that my talents, skills, experience and God-given gifts can be applied in different ways in many diverse situations. All that was required was a willingness to go wherever God led me and to do whatever he asked me to do. In the process of so doing I learned that God had a plan for my life that was more challenging that my own plan, but also far more exciting and rewarding. My wife's experience has been similar to mine, as she was afforded opportunities to go places and do things that have gone far beyond what she expected for herself. Based on our life experiences as a married couple with dual professional careers, my wife and I developed the concept that we call spiritual entrepreneurship. The challenges we faced in fulfilling the requirements of two separate careers without neglecting our family obligations led us to the principles and practices of this concept.

The Journey of Faith Career Management Group focuses on faith during transition. We encourage, uplift and inspire each other during our Job Search. We know that there are many things going on in our lives in addition to looking for a job, so we share with each other all of those things that we are struggling with and pray together for the wisdom and strength to deal with them. In addition to providing another networking opportunity, we also encourage each other to not just look for a job, but to seek their true vocation, or calling. We believe that each person has a unique set of talents, abilities, experience and God-given gifts, and that God has a specific situation in which that particular combination is needed. Finding that place will provide us with the greatest satisfaction and sense of fulfillment, as well as providing us with an income. Many of our members have made successful transitions from the work they were doing in the job that they lost to a whole new field of work that is much more rewarding.

Developed policies and procedures manual, document formats, new hire training seminar and employee performance appraisal system for commercial real estate analysis and due diligence firm. Previously, as an Associate, conducted Property Condition Assessments (PCA's) and Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESA's), and Construction Progress Reports (CPR's).

Administrative Manager for 250 person Southwest region, with four regional offices. Managed Human Resources and Accounting Departments, Computer Systems Administration and Facilities Management. Hired new Human Resources and Accounting Department managers, as well as several new accounting, project control and computer systems personnel. Provided performance appraisals and reviews for administrative personnel, including corrective action procedures, which in one case resulted in termination.Conducted training seminars for both Project and Technical Department managers on financial aspects of management, including a mainframe-based project control system, and aspects of cost control, billing, collections and revenue accrual. Responsible for setup of new regional office in Austin, Texas, including office lease, furnishings and fixtures, telecommunications system setup, and purchase and setup of computer system. Responsible for financial oversight of Dallas and Austin offices, as well as additional offices in Albuquerque, New Mexico and Phoenix, Arizona. Conducted training seminars on financial management for both Austin and Phoenix office management personnel.Also prepared annual financial plans for Southwest region offices, quarterly forecast updates, monthly financial projections, and analyzed monthly and year-to-date financial results. Provided weekly and year-to-date reports on individual and collective sales and profitability of Project and Technical Department managers. Reviewed operating costs of Dallas, Austin, Albuquerque and Phoenix offices and made recommendations on cost saving measures.Member of Policy Deployment Team that was instrumental in achieving ISO 9001 registration for the office.

Responsible for hiring, training and managing all Project Managers, as well as personnel in the Project Control Department, consisting of project administration, estimating and scheduling.Served as Project Manager on selected projects, such as a $100,000,000 clean, seal, and paint facility for Boeing Commercial Airplane Group for their 747, 767 and 777 aircraft in Everett, Washington. The project was one of the largest and most profitable in the history of the Dallas regional office.Active in business development, including making sales calls, exhibiting at trade shows, preparing written proposals, making formal presentations to clients, and negotiating contracts.

Managed large multi-discipline teams for design and construction of commercial and industrial projects with a combined construction cost of over $250,000,000, including award-winning projects for American Airlines and United Technologies Hamilton Standard.Had extensive personal contact with clients, contractors, and federal, state, and local regulatory agencies. Responsible for planning, budgeting, preparing proposals, scheduling, coordinating, writing reports and achieving desired profit margins on major projects with large multiple-member design and construction teams. Other duties included field inspections during construction and construction contract administration (shop drawing review, change orders, progress payment recommendations, etc.)Served on a corporate-wide Productivity Improvement Committee that conducted an in-depth review of Lockwood Greene's policies and procedures. A comprehensive report with specific recommendations for improving productivity and profitability was prepared and presented to the President and CEO.

Affiliated with Seaboard Realty Corporation as a commercial investment agent. Worked with licensed broker to plan and market commercial and residential real estate developments.In addition, worked as an independent consultant to Christian Communication Technology to help develop a microcomputer/CD-ROM system with Matsushita Electric Corporation and Sony Corporation for a pioneering computer-based educational system. The resultant program, Project Light (http://www.projectlight.org/history.html), is now in use throughout the United States and in 35 other countries around the world.

Established new Construction Department to coordinate and oversee all construction projects for the network and CBN University (now Regent University) on a 200-acre campus from initial planning, budgeting and scheduling through construction completion. Developed procedures and report forms for department, hired and supervised Project Engineers. Also chaired a Facilities Planning Task Force that prepared a report on CBN's future facilities requirements from which the long-range master plan was developed.

Managed large multi-discipline teams for design and construction of commercial, industrial, and institutional projects with a combined construction cost of over $100,000,000, including development of a new 100 acre headquarters complex for the Louisiana Department of Public Safety.Had extensive personal contact with clients, contractors, and federal, state, and local regulatory agencies. Responsible for planning, budgeting, preparing proposals, scheduling, coordinating, writing reports, and achieving desired profit margins on major projects with large multiple-member design and construction teams.Conducted field inspections during construction.Construction contract administration (shop drawing review, change orders, progress payment recommendations, etc.)Proposal preparation, interviews with prospective clients, and contract negotiations

Various design and observation of construction assignments including site selection and environmental impact studies for a 2,000 megawatt coal-fired electric generating station for Cajun Electric Power Cooperative.

Started as an Associate Design Engineer in the Fuselage Design Group. Subsequently promoted to Design Engineer and Lead Design Engineer. Basic design and sustaining engineering on four different models of the A-7 Corsair II Light Attack Aircraft for the United Stated Navy and Air Force, and on the S-3A Anti-Submarine Warfare Aircraft.
