I am a trial and appellate lawyer and a partner at Pryor Cashman in New York City. I founded and co-chair the firm's Art Law Practice, where my practice largely involves chain of title, authenticity, copyright, and contractual disputes.Working in conjunction with the Netherlands Arbitration Institute (NAI) and the Authenticity in Art (AiA) organization (where I serve as an Advisory Board member), I conceived of and formed a working group to design the newly-launched “Court of Arbitration for Art” (CAfA), administered through NAI. I am also a founding board member of the Professional Advisors to the International Art Market (PAIAM) in New York.While my commercial litigation practice is diverse, it focuses on property rights cases in a number of contexts, including art, intellectual property matters arising under the Copyright and Lanham Acts, right of publicity and defamation laws, and real estate litigation. I have also represented clients in a number of complex cases involving civil rights, civil RICO, antitrust, unfair competition, securities fraud and banking claims, as well as numerous contract, shareholder and LLC membership disputes.I have litigated in federal and state courts around the country as well as before a variety of ADR forums. I teach Art Law as an adjunct professor at the University of Virginia School of Law, and also taught appellate advocacy and legal writing as an adjunct professor at Columbia Law School between 2009-2014.
