If you take any of the top loose-leaf tea companies, the people who run these companies are going to have a level of knowledge about tea that far exceeds that of a tea sommelier fresh out of a course.The tea industry isn’t the type of place where you just go apply for a job in a big organization and get it, it’s all about building relationships, and entrepreneurship, and in my experience, the people who have these skills often don’t need to take a course in order to become an expert on tea, they become experts by doing. I realize that is kind of a broad statement, but on any given day we can be expected to help with anything from making dinner reservations to helping with a surprise wedding proposal.The best part of my job is that it is never the same.
