Ever since my years as Head of Innovation Management at the Stanford Research Institute (SRI International) in the mid-1980s, I’ve had the privilege of serving people & companies to bring out their innovative best. It’s an exciting journey to be on, blending my deep interest in the art (people side) & the discipline (technical side) of innovation. To me, the most exciting part of the journey is still emerging, with a focus on Human Centered Innovation, which includes yet goes beyond design thinking & agile innovation. HCI empowers people to integrate their functional knowledge, emotional intelligence, innovative thinking styles, values-driven empathy & motivation, & collaboration skills for generating impactful, meaningful innovations for the world of stakeholders. I’ve traveled the globe over the years, started two consultancies (Values Centered Innovation, co-founded with my wife Debra in 2010, and Global Creativity Corporation in 1987). At VCI, we are pioneering the most advanced, integrated approach to Human Centered Innovation through a customizable blend of researched-based analytics, eLearning courses, self-assessments, certifications, workshops, & personalized consulting. We strive to sustain high-trust relationships & to keep things simple but not simplistic. Over the years, I've worked with people in over 100 corporations, & written 6 books. I’ve had the pleasure of connecting with people to bring alive the role of human values – the positive qualities of good character – as the foundation for what, why, & how we innovate, especially when technology is involved.I’ve been twice surprised when I learned that Executive Book Summaries named two of my books as among the top 30 business books of their years in the USA. Another surprise came when Leadership Excellence named me numerous times as among the top 30 leadership consultants worldwide. These are humbling moments, as I stand on the shoulders of many who came before me. I’ve taught in the MBA program the Stanford’s Graduate School of Business, & in the Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) program at the University of Dallas. My global consulting has given me the chance to experience first-hand the enormous capacity that people everywhere have for Human Centered Innovation in countries such as Canada, China, UK, India, Spain, Italy, Japan, Singapore, & the USA. My clients over the past 30 years have included corporations such as Charles Schwab, Disney Institute, DuPont, Eli Lilly, HP, P&G, L&T Technologies, & 3M.In all, it’s a great life, including great work with great people.
