Synapse Medical (now part of Uniphar) was a leading supplier in Ireland and Northern Ireland, of medical devices, specializing in the area of interventional cardiology and radiology. Among the 16 Principals were Abbott Vascular, and GE Healthcare (pharmaceutical diagnostic agents known as contrast media). GE were formerly operating a direct model in Ireland but chose Synapse as their distributor. Responsibilities:• Managing a team of 15 across management, sales, HR, administration, finance and distribution. • Post-acquisition added to the above was board level reporting to the larger (€100m) Sisk Healthcare division of Sisk. • Preparation and presentation of monthly reports on all aspects of the business.• A key responsibility as CEO was the securing and management of principals which involved dealing with international and Irish suppliers.Achievements:• Fulfilment of earn out 2007 – 2010 after being acquired. Full consideration achieved almost x 2 initial offer. Achieved by negotiation and actual sales results• Grew Synapse revenues from €3.2m in 2006 to €6.7m in 2007 (the year it was acquired).• Revenues had grown to €13m upon exit in 2016.• Synapse was regarded as the go-to company with a reputation for service excellence.• ISO granted in 2006.• Pharmaceutical wholesale licence granted in 2007. • Won several and ongoing HSE and Belfast Trust, supply contracts (often at the expense of competitors such Medtronic and Boston Scientific, and locally Fannins and PEI• Secured distribution rights for several bluechip med-tech companies ahead of strong competition. e.g Neuravi – Galway based company acquired by Johnson and Johnson 2017 €100’sM

Bristol Myers Squibb is a global pharmaceutical company headquartered in New Jersey. • Product manager for oncology and antiviral drugs. • Full sales and marketing responsibly for these leading products used in cancer and HIV treatment. Latter achieved several fold sales versus forecast. Directly reporting to MD. • In this role a controversial Sunday Tribune headline caused a significant move forward towards the then national cancer strategy (original article available on request).
