Senior FBP role covering Fusion, Arista and Towergate Underwriting brands in:- Scotland and NI (Glasgow)- North East (Leeds)- North West (Manchester)- Midlands (Birmingham)- South West (Bristol)

Internal move within the larger Towergate Group. Responsibilities include:• Oversight of the production of management accounts for each business within the Region leading a team of Management Accountants, plus additional finance clerks and coaching of said colleagues.• Interrogating accounts produced and understanding variances to budget through detailed understanding of the businesses and developing relationships with individual MDs, reporting these to Divisional management in verbal and written form on a monthly basis.• Reviewing budgets prepared by Management Accountants and MDs to challenge business plans and encourage organic growth.• Regular forecasting of projected income and costs on a mid month flash and detailed quarterly basis, identifying positive and negative trends to highlight focus areas for management to ensure control over costs but also income maximisation through tailored investment in key areas of each business unit.• Integration of acquired businesses, either books of business or Limited companies, into the Group culture and ensuring buy in to the reporting processes and business practices to benefit from economies of scale associated with a large group.• Ensuring technical compliance with FSA rules relevant to insurance brokers, particularly CASS in relation to client monies.• Liaising with Group Internal Auditors to ensure regular review of control environments take place and ensuring recommendations are implemented.• Being the key point of contact for External Auditors in relation to businesses within the Region to ensure efficient completion of statutory audits.• Liaison with the Group Legal department and calculation of payments to vendors following completion of earn out periods.• Offering support to 100% owned businesses through the periodic divisionalisation into the holding company.

Performing internal audit reviews at different business units within the Towergate Partnership and related companies, focussing on financial and operational controls. Objectives are to ensure adequate control environments, efficiency and compliance with various regulatory requirements. Covers business units ranging in size from 8 to 500 people, all with their own finance and operational staff.

Progressed from a graduate trainee through to Executive where became responsible for planning, undertaking, supervising, completing and reporting on statutory audits of large SMEs. Key outputs were a report to client and audit management and a set of statutory accounts.ACA qualification obtained. Chartered status obtained at conclusion of training contract in September 2008.
