Conceptualized, formed, and leading a public-private partnership and nonprofit (501c3) organization bringing together the power and expertise of DuPont, University of Delaware, and the State of Delaware along with other partners to drive science-based entrepreneurial business growth. Key strategic priorities include business creation, incubation and acceleration of science-based startup companies through our offering which includes world-class physical laboratories and offices, business building expertise offered through our Spark Factory and Science Inc Accelerator programs, and investment offered through our First Fund investment program. ▪ Raised over $40 million of support for the organization including a modern industrial laboratory building, over $20 million in grants & contributions, about $2 million in donated scientific equipment, and countless hours of contributed professional time and talent. ▪ Enabled startup companies at the Delaware Innovation Space have raised over $1B in investment capital and the organization has supported over 100 startups and created/retained over 800 jobs since forming in 2017▪ Created, launched, and growing the first non-profit based venture/seed capital investment program in Delaware - The First Fund (www.firstfund.org) and have made ~$400k in investments over the last few years across five startups. First Fund was established to enable the formation and growth of new science-based startup to enable the growth of the economic base of the State of Delaware. * Led a global industrial biotechnology R&D organization of >100 scientists and engineers working on metabolic engineering and process development research programs in support of the renewable fuels market.* Reported directly to the Chief Science and Technology Officer of DuPont and served on the leadership team of DuPont Central Research & Development, DuPont Science Board, DuPont Technology Leadership Team and the DuPont Corporate Technology Council.* Served on the board of directors for Butamax Advanced BioFuels LLC and on the Technology Steering Committee for DuPont Danisco Cellulosic Ethanol LLC * Directed and created strategic partnerships with external companies, national labs, and government agencies* Led key workstreams and supported efforts in the due diligence and integration of Danisco/Genencor into DuPont

* Led global business development efforts for a variety of advanced biofuel programs.* Created business strategies and evaluated new partnership opportunities with both small and large companies around the world for a variety of biofuel related programs.* Led creation of an integrated global business plan for the development and commercialization of biobutanol.* Negotiated agreements that resulted in the formation of two joint ventures with BP: Butamax Advanced Biofuels LLC in the US and Kingston Research Limited in the UK. Served as a Director of Kingston Research Limited.* Managed with colleagues in DuPont and BP the biobutanol program and its progress against milestones with regards to the overall technology development programs in both BP and DuPont. Led design of management processes and formed teams to manage execution of the each element of the program strategy including overall R&D progress, intellectual property strategy execution, and scale-up facility design and project management.

* R&D leader of DuPont Biofuels and core member of business team. Core spokesperson for DuPont’s biofuel efforts at major conferences and with government agencies and the media.* Led a large interdisciplinary multi-million dollar program to create advanced biofuels. Led creation of DuPont/BP’s biobutanol research strategy and served as its R&D leader. * Led DuPont’s Integrated Corn Biorefinery (ICBR) program as Program Director. Led reviews and coordinated activities with US DOE as part of a $38 million grant to develop cutting edge cellulosic ethanol technology.* Negotiated and drafted sections of multi-million dollar research and licensing agreements.* Led external research collaborations with a variety of small and large international companies.* Coordinated remote R&D support for startup of 1,3 BIO-PDO plant.

* Led a variety of new business development projects including a new nanoparticle offering for DuPont that involved securing and developing new customers and management of cross-business unit development programs. * Framed, negotiated, and completed multi-million dollar deals with other companies based on Real Options strategy.* Developed external engagement strategy for DuPont in nanotechnology and guided creation of the International Council on Nanotechnology at Rice University.* Led technology and IP due diligence team and served as a core team member on the operations and sales & marketing due diligence teams in support of a multi-million dollar acquisition.* Led an international cross-functional team on evaluation of business options with companies in Asia.

The National Advisory Council on Innovation & Entrepreneurship (NACIE) is charged with developing a National Entrepreneurship Strategy that strengthens America’s ability to compete and win as the world’s leading startup nation and as the world’s leading innovator in critical emerging technologies. The council will help with identifying and recommending solutions to drive the innovation economy, including growing a skilled STEM workforce and removing barriers for entrepreneurs ushering innovative technologies into the market. The council also facilitates federal dialogue with the innovation, entrepreneurship, and workforce development communities.

The American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) seeks to "advance science, engineering, and innovation throughout the world for the benefit of all people." Served as a director on the board of Butamax Advanced Biofuels LLC. Butamax™ Advanced Biofuels is a joint venture created by BP and DuPont. It combines BP's expertise in fuels technology, development and infrastructure with DuPont's leading capabilities in biotechnology. The company is based in Wilmington, Delaware, US.
