Director Of Aviation And Safety
CurrentManages the aviation program for Florida including planning, coordinating, implementing & directing aviation assets within the state. Manages aircraft maintenance & logistics programs, aircrew training programs, management of 150+ personnel, facilities planning, resource programming & budgeting in excess of $1.4 million annually, policy development & implementation, aviation safety & aircraft accident prevention programs, & aviation support to accomplish various missions. Principal aviation advisor, liaisons with all organizations concerning matters relevant to aviation support. Determines program goals & priorities & coordinates joint activities with other agencies. Conducts staff conferences to determine budget impacts caused by increased costs, changes in programs & policies, changes in mission, requirements for new or remodeled facilities, etc. Manages all resources, including money, allocated to the state for aviation & aviation safety, & approves all changes which may need to be made due to unforeseen problems. Manages the state Safety Program, which includes Ground Safety, Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene programs. Exercises leadership & responsibility for planning, directing, coordinating, administering & implementing intensive Safety Programs. Direct responsibility includes personnel management, facilities planning, resource programming, policy development & implementation, of an overall safety program. Ensures effective program implementation within a broad framework of Congressional legislation, executive orders, Public Laws, DODIs, Army and National Guard regulations & policies. Directs the effort of subordinates engaged in safety program management, special studies and advisory services. Acts as the principal safety advisor to General Officers for accident prevention programs. Ensures implementation of public law mandated programs impacting civilian and military employees working within the state.
