As Controller of a Division of Home Depot I:Managed all accounting operations teams totaling 35 associates.Led the Finance side of a major accounting system implementation. I was the only one on the executive team to stop “go live” until adequate testing was completed. Subsequently received a performance award for my participation in the implementation.Partnered with the Home Depot AP team to address procedures related to tracking and reconciling intercompany transactions and balances. Since these transactions and balances are eliminated in consolidation, we set parameters by which they would be accepted and processed by both parties. This eliminated the reconciliation process and resulted in a time savings of 1.5 FTE’s.Implemented various tools to assess customer credit risks which resulted in bad debt expense being an income item for the fiscal year and a customer aging with over 96% of its balance as current.Partnered with the Home Depot rebates team to assess and manage rebates from a Company-wide perspective vs a Division approach. This led to booking an additional $2.4m of revenue at year-end.Partnered with the returns teams to understand their processes and proposed improvements which led to more accurate accounting for returns and a better understanding of the returns rate. Also took the initiative to manage the balance of unprocessed returns within the returns team which reduced that balance from $1.5m to $400k.Partnered with the Sales team to manage vendor rebate contracts. Analyzed the contracts to ensure Home Depot was properly protected from an accounting and commercial perspective.

As CFO at Antiox I:Managed all accounting operations including the consolidation of multi-national financials. Created the consolidation process with all eliminating entries in Excel. Had subsidiaries in England, Germany, Belgium and the Netherlands and sales offices in Mexico and Malaysia.Responsible for the IT function, some administrative and some human resource functions.Negotiated the financing for the Company.Implemented internal controls to clean up the books reducing annual audit fees from $108k to $28k.Bridged a significant cash flow challenge: Vendors’ terms were 30 to 45 days while foreign customers’ terms were 30 to 180 days. Obtained insurance from Export Import Bank of the US on import receivable balances. Then used the insured receivable balances as collateral to obtain financing. Anitox was named the Export Import National Small Business Exporter of the Year.Reported directly to the owners and was fully involved in managing the Company.
