Responsible for day-to-day financial management, funding strategic growth initiatives and managing lender and shareholder relationships. Oversaw the growth and development of the finance function as the Company went from $12 million in revenues to $124 million, raised over $20 million in equity and $30 million in debt financing and completed 3 acquisitions and a go-public transaction. Managed a team of 10 professionals and had direct responsibility for HR and the extensive insurance requirements.

An established Family Office with a mandate to acquire mid market companies within a entrepreneur style Private Equity fund. Created quarterly reporting package on IRR and other key metrics on the existing portfolio of 5 investments.Negotiated and completed due diligence on two new investments: A minority equity investment in an acquisitive chain of car dealerships across North America and a controlling equity stake in a manufacturer of pharmaceutical grade stainless steel tanks as part of a management succession.

Hired as the first employee in Eastern Canada to establish a firm presence with a goal of originating and executing control equity investments in lower mid market private companies in Ontario and Quebec. Finalized the hire of a VP with complementary skills and, in the first two years, we originated and completed four value-creating acquisitions for a total value of $65 million (OES Inc., Combat Networks, Leone Fence & Comtrad) - Included negotiating the structures, valuations and all agreements, including bank financing, and completing thorough due diligence using a combination of external service providers and our own analysis.- Completed the acquisition of real estate on two of the transactions worth an additional $3 million, including negotiating the mortgage and construction financing packages.Expanded the team to four professionals to accelerate the pace of acquisitions and dedicate time to the post-closing financial and operational improvement of the portfolio companies as an active board member. Promoted to Managing Director and granted investment responsibilities for all of Canada and recruited built a US office with management responsibility for two senior investment professionals in Philadelphia. Oversaw the completion of the firm’s first US transaction with an Enterprise Value of C$22 million.Built relationships with a network of over 100 sell side advisory firms across Canada and the US resulting in over 400 acquisition opportunities received per year.

Head of Agriculture and Diversified Industries across Canada for equity & debt financing, mergers & acquisitions. Worked with Institutional Sales, Research & Debt Capital Markets teams to identify and successfully execute transaction opportunities. Established the firm’s new presence in the Agri-industries sector and participated in over $1.5 billion of debt and equity financings in the second year generating substantial investment banking revenues.Won and led several a M&A advisory mandates including the sale of Wolf Trax Inc., an agricultural nutrient company, sold to Compass Minerals, The transaction was named the Canadian Venture Capital Association “2014 Deal of the Year” in the venture capital category.

Primary coverage of Diversified Industries in Eastern Canada with a focus on Consumer Products, Transportation, Industrial Products, Agriculture, Technology and Infrastructure.Developed several new issuer relationships for the firm, participating in several financings by new clients and completed several capital pool company transactions.

Head of Industrial & Consumer Products, Eastern Canada (including Infrastructure & Construction) and Head of Transportation/ Waste (Canada). Also initiated relationships and business with Agriculture companies.Significantly increased business in Diversified Industries sectors through 24 new issues raising over $3.3 billion, including transactions by 5 new clients to the firm in the first year.Worked with US-based Waste Management team on many cross border presentations and projects including two financings by BFI Canada (now Progressive Waste Solutions), a leading waste management company in North America: an $82 million bought deal in Canada and a $150 million NYSE IPO (BIN-N).Identified, created and presented a proposal & valuation to major shareholders of Dollarama for an IPO. Participated in the $350 million IPO and 3 other financings for nearly $1 billion, as the only non-bank dealer in the syndicates.

Joined as the firm’s first ever investment banker and helped build one of Canada’s leading Health Care franchises.Also led successful expansion to the Technology, Consumer Products, Industrial and Aerospace/Defense sectors. Participated and managed approximately 88 financings, 35 as lead or co-lead manager including leading the Health Care team to consistent top Canadian rankings. Led the two largest financings in the firm’s history in Q1 2007, a $50 million bought-deal and a US$25 million cross border prospectus offering.Won and executed several M&A advisory mandates, on sell side and buy side including: Advisor to Gensci Regeneration Sciences on the $100M sale of US assets to Isotis SA; and advisor to Intellivax on the $24 million all share acquisition by ID Biomedical, which was later acquired by GlaxoSmithKline for $1.7 billion or 6x the share price of the share issued to Intellivax owners.Invested in several equity offerings to become the firm’s second largest shareholder. Participated in the firm’s management committee and recruiting efforts and was a key contributor to its Toronto expansion, consistent profitability and growing its capital 10x over seven years.Additional roles included syndication manager, sales to select retail and sophisticated specialized institutional clients, negotiating and securing short term loans and managing the broker warrant portfolio.

Joined First Marathon as the only Montreal associate and helped build a leading Canadian Health Care underwriter as part of a two-person team, reporting directly to a Managing Director.Gained valuable presentation experience and managed a wide variety of transactions including bought deals, private placements and IPOs in: Health Care (led a $20M bought deal for Biochem Pharma); Technology (led a $40M IPO by Teknor Industrial Computers); Telecom (3 major IPOs); and Industrial (led a private placement by Intertape Polymer, underwriter in the IPO by CN Rail).
