I am a partner in KPMG’s Corporates indirect tax team in London. I advise clients in the effective structuring and management of indirect tax, focusing on risk management, value creation and solving the complexities of managing indirect tax globally. As well as having international experience from working at KPMG Madrid to help develop their tax business, I have significant practical experience from client secondments at global telecoms, mining and vehicle manufacturing businesses. I have led numerous projects that have delivered substantial amounts of VAT P&L benefits and/or working capital improvements for businesses, particularly in the FMCG and manufacturing sectors, on a UK and global basis. In 2013, I led a KPMG initiative on behalf of a number of clients to formally complain to the European Commission regarding the Italian government’s continued and systemic to refund VAT receivables to taxpayers. This resulted in formal infringement proceedings being launched by the Commission against Italy, and has led to significant changes being introduced by Italy to the benefit of our clients and taxpayers.In the Life Sciences sector, I have worked with companies to minimise VAT and Customs Duty costs on clinical trials in multiple countries, helped clients to meet the proliferation of new digital reporting requirements through technology solutions and ensured that new pharma products get to market in the most tax and logistically efficient way.
