As Quora's first Head of Communications, I designed the communication strategy and led communications for the company. I was responsible for internal and external communications, media relations, product updates, community management, and social media. We secured positive and prominent coverage for product launches, launched a new employer brand, minimized legal and regulatory risk, and grew NPS 10% while maintaining brand equity above Twitter, reddit, and Medium. Notable product launches include the Creator Program (1.4M+ ARR) and Poe, an AI-powered platform for real-time, interactive dialog with Large Language Models such as ChatGPT.

The Reproducibility Initiative (later renamed the Reproducibility Project: Cancer Biology) was an 8-year, ~$2M effort to replicate experiments from high-impact cancer biology papers published between 2010 and 2012. In collaboration with the Center for Open Science and Science Exchange, the project aimed to replicate 193 experiments from 53 of the most highly-cited cancer biology papers from 2010-2012. To achieve these objectives, I managed external PR agencies for corporate narrative, risk management, crisis communications, market segmentation, and influencer engagement; led engagement with professional societies, foundations, and non-profits in higher education & research; organized events in person and online (Transforming Research, Science Online Bay Area); designed social media strategy; managed communications for acquisitions and partnerships (Mendeley, bepress, ScienceMetrix, Aries); handled inbound requests from trade, national, and international media; collaborated with internal and external industry groups and standards bodies on policies regarding open access, research integrity, reproducibility, research assessment, and data standards.

I was the public face of Mendeley, leading our engagement with the academic community through strategic and highly-visible technology and policy initiatives. My Dissertation is entitled "The Role of Human Multipotent Mesenchymal Stromal Cells in the Repair of Bone.” This work led to the development of a candidate drug for treatment of osteolytic lesions in multiple myeloma.Adult Stem Cells * Isolated and cultured multipotent mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) from human and rodent sources. * Designed experiments to identify differentiation and multipotency factors acting on hMSCs. * Developed novel high-throughput assays for detection and quantitation of osteogenic differentiation.Multiple Myeloma Animal Model * Developed animal model for multiple myeloma which reproduced clinically relevant bone involvement. * Isolated, cultured, and assayed myeloma cell lines, mMSCs, and bone marrow from experimental animals * Performed necropsy, tissue collection and processing, histological and immunostaining, and ELISA.
