More than 31 years experience in the IT industry. But don't let my experience fool you. I am not one of those guys that learned the prevailing technologies 30 years ago and stopped learning. I am a voracious learner who spends 5-10 hours a week or more reading, watching online training, and experimenting with new technologies to keep my skill set current.I have broad experience in a number of languages including C/C++, Java and Python, familiarity with C# and .NET Framework/Core, and have worked on many different platforms from Windows to Linux to Mac and other Unix variants. I have extensive experience with the Oracle database and related technologies and have worked with a number of other databases including MySQL SQLServer, and MongoDB.For 5 of the last 8 years I have worked in the Azure cloud environment, gaining extensive experience with Azure Cosmos DB and other Azure technologies, and gained in-depth experience with the microservices architecture. I am also familiar with other cloud providers such as AWS, GCP, and OCI. I have experience across the entire development life cycle including requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, deployment, support, and maintenance. I have extensive data modeling experience using a variety of tools including Visio, Dezign for Databases, ERWin, and XCase. Most of my data modeling experience has been in the OLTP realm, but I have began to focus more on dimensional modeling in the last few years as I have transitioned my role from that of a Solution Architect to a Data Architect. I have filled both data architect and data manager roles over the last 5 years, but still think of myself as fundamentally a Solution Architect with mad data skills.In the last 2 years I have added Airflow/Hadoop/Hive/Impala and Snowflake to my skillset as well as an intermediate level knowledge of Python and a high-level understanding of the data science field. I am very interested in learning more about data science and machine learning. I am a math enthusiast.I have led multiple projects, directing the efforts of more than a dozen other developers. My strengths are excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written, and an ability to focus on the most minute details while at the same time keeping the big picture in mind. I am extremely versatile, able to easily transition between roles and to switch from big picture tasks to rolling up my sleeves and writing code at a moments notice. I have become a key contributor at every company I have worked for.
