  • Wren Kitchens
    Qa Analyst
    Wren Kitchens May 2018 - Aug 2019
Barton Upon Humber, England, United Kingdom
Working as a QA Analyst within the Wren Kitchens IT Team. I was given a large amount of autonomy and ownership of several areas of test. I was the sole QA responsible for the 3D development team. This also included both 2D planner and 3D Tactical fixes for the live product environment. I was responsible for testing the 3D render system, HQ renders & Virtual Reality. This required a mix of both manual functionality testing and automation. Working in an agile environment I was heavily involved in sprint planning, show & tells and retrospectives. I was tasked with keeping the backlog up to date and relevant to ongoing projects. This was for both Project and tactical backlogs. Throughout this time, I developed excellent problem-solving skills by mitigating project risks and tickets (Jira) blocking development and test. During my tenure over the helpdesk tactical process, I worked to reduce the number of helpdesk calls received from almost 500 call a week down to around 40 calls a week. I also worked to achieve a similar result with backlogs, reducing them down in size and maintaining their accuracy, by removing obsolete tickets and duplication's. As a leader I was tasked with training and developing junior testers and assisting with training towards their ISTQB qualification.
  • Sumo Digital Ltd
    Embedded Qa Tester
Sumo Digital Ltd Aug 2016 - May 2018
    Sheffield, United Kingdom
Working as an Embedded Tester on the project, I have learned a lot from working so closely with the development team. My responsibilities consist of a daily smoke check to quickly asses the state of the build and then email this report to the development team. This would usually be followed by performing Build Verification Testing (BVT) using Jenkins to manually verify and report on the automated testing performed overnight. Following this up with the Core Tech Lead I would then Publish these changes to the rest of the development team. The rest of the morning would consist of general testing, regression or creating/testing testplans for new features in line with the feature specifications. During a milestone I would be partially responsible for Creating and Testing a UAT User Acceptance Testplan Based on that milestones MAT Milestone Acceptance Testcases. This would then be tested by myself and other members of the QA team to highlight any issues for that specific project milestone. Alongside my QA responsibilities I was given the opportunity to assist the production team, Using MS Project to created project road maps for feature teams using the costings provided by that areas Lead. This was something I really enjoyed as it was a nice change of pace and something that challenged my skill set and required me to learn new skills and step out of my comfort zone.Working with the development team is invaluable for chasing up high priority issues or seeing clarification or providing feedback on the current features and state of the build.

  • Rocksteady Studios Ltd

Rocksteady Studios Ltd Jan 2014 - Jun 2014

While at rocksteady I was given several new responsibilitiesMy duties included checking the progress of high priority issues with members of the development team, making sure important issues were being actioned. This meant talking with department leads to resolve any problems that might be halting the turnaround of high priority issues and offering QA support if needed. This would be followed by a daily meeting with the executive producer to update him on the current status of the build and any issues effecting workflow. Following this meeting I would compile the results into a studio wide report which I would then send out.The rest of my time was spent monitoring the bug database ( JIRA ) for high priority issues, assigning bug that required further investigation and reproductions to playthrough and testing teams. Alternatively reproducing issues personally. I also took part in weekly meetings via conference call with the publishing QA teams, who were providing support for the project. This mainly consisted of looking at any standout issues which needed extra support and evaluating the bug reporting procedure to maintain parity with our standards.
  • Rockstar Games
    Qa Tester
    Rockstar Games Jan 2013 - Dec 2013
    Lincoln, United Kingdom
Rockstar Lincoln was the second studio I had worked in and the place where I really developed my skills as a QA Tester. I spent a year on the nightshift team working on GTA V Single player content. I learned many new skills while with Lincoln. I learned extensive debug skills and further developed my testing abilities. While at Lincoln I had the opportunity to train staff as both a 1-on-1 mentor as well as create and present training presentations. I also gave general guidance to many of the less experienced staff through a long and difficult crunch period. I often helped others with technical and computer related issues as well as my standard QA duties, whether it was helping to set up consoles for specific test or helping to resolve video recording issues, I was often first port of call when someone needed help. In addition to my standard QA responsibilities I also took on the roles of DSE safety officer and fire marshal for my building as well as the unofficial pizza order guy for the nightshift team.
  • Sumo Digital
    Qa Tester

    Sheffield, United Kingdom
Originally starting in a Balancing/Playtest volunteer position I was tasked with a group of other playtesters to complete playthroughs of the title Sonic and All-Stars Racing: Transformed. I was tasked with completing a playthrough of the title on various difficulties, analysing and critiquing the difficulty balance of the title. Having completed my playthroughs faster than other playtesters granted me the opportunity to test other platforms and perform some bug entry. This effort was rewarded when at the end of the 2 week placement, I was offered to stay on as a QA Tester until completion of the project.I learned the main core skills of QA while in this role, learning to Identify, classify and report bugs using devtrack. I learned to revise fixed issues and reproduce important bugs.
