This group developed the CARICOM ENERGY policy in 2006.Developed concept and identified funding for BARBADOS RENEWABLE ENERGY CENTRE.Recommend and develop global outreach programme for Barbados solar water heater industry called BARBADOS SOLAR MODEL. This initiative is being developed through the Global Environment Facility, UNDP and UNEP.DEMONSTRATION SOLAR HOUSE. Designed and developed the Caribbean’s first demonstration solar house and tours. This house has been extremely successful and has attracted thousands of visitors.

Developed the first Solar/electric powered vehicles in the Caribbean. First to use Solar vehicles for a tourism project. Developed and launched in 2005 SOLAR SHUTTLES. We are now reviewing investment and expansion opportunities in several other Caribbean countries through the Caribbean Development Bank. Develop concept for using SOLAR SHUTTLES for transit within Bridgetown and other Caribbean cities.Secured first tourism transit licenses for SOLAR vehicles in Caribbean though the Barbados Ministry of Public Works.

Consultant for Caribbean Renewable Development Energy Project (CREDP).Conceptualized CREDP and secured initial donor and regional support Carried out survey of Barriers to renewable energy in 14 Caribbean Countries and identified the areas of 1) Policy 2) Finance 3) Awareness and 4) Capacity. Coordinated meeting that developed this into original CREDP project concept.

Author of books on renewable energy etc. 2001 HOW SOLAR WATER HEATERS WORK: GARDEN ADVENTURE. This book was written for 8-12 year old students and teaches how a solar water heater works using a story about children playing in a garden. 2006 SOLAR MOTION: SOLAR VISION FOR BRIDGETOWN. This book speaks of the application of Solar Vehicles in a small island capital. Other applications of solar energy are recommended in the process of making the capital a SOLAR CITY.2007 COOL SOLAR HOUSES. This publication is in response to the numerous questions asked by persons visiting the solar house designed by author. It is a layperson’s guide on solar houses. The publication has sections on keeping houses cool in tropical environments as well as energy efficiency in houses.Other publications in work are1. Renewable energy in Barbados and the OECS overview of renewable energy in the Caribbean. 2. Blowing in the wind/How a windmill works 3.Renewable Energy text book

Developed SOLAR DRYERS for agro-processing application in cottage and industrial applications. Eventually developed instant food product based on solar drying of Yams, Sweet Potatoes and Breadfruit.Designed and build solar dryer with computer controls for drying ‘Cream of Wheate’ type wheat product. Converted gas fired timber dryer to solar Developed Solar dried instant Bread fruit/Sweet potato product and packaging as well as feasibility study and business plan conducted by international accounts company KPMG.

Developed and managed Inter American Development Bank Solar Dryer Programme. Designed industrial solar dryer capable of drying 11 tonnes of Onions. Managed the production of Solar Stills, cookers etc. Developed and taught PV installation course to participants from 4 Caribbean countries.Conceptualized and design multimillion dollar regional renewable energy project which attracted support from over 13 Caribbean countries and the Global Environmental Facility. This project evolved into the Caribbean Renewable Energy Development Project which is based at the CARICOM secretariat. Designed and built several PV system including 11 kW solar ice plant, Solar power for 10,000 Watt of lights used at a football field, solar power for small computer lab etc. Taught project management for 2 years.

Bawden is an environmental NGO focussing on ECO Tourism and sustainable living. The objective of this socio-anthropological initiative was to assemble a group of environment unaware rural volunteers and increase their knowledge and management skills to successful operate environmental businesses. As president I secured access to over 100 acres of scenic land for hiking and biking tours as well as camping. Organic farming was also supported by this agency which received funding from the Food and Agriculture Organization, Canadian International Development Agency, Barbados Government and Casurina Hotel (Barbados leading Green hotel) ,UNDP and Caribbean Development Bank.Secured planning application to establish two acre site as park HQ. Developed demonstration solar house and secured funding for gender equity project to establish cottage industry in spinning Sea Island Cotton and knitting it into souvenirs.

Represented CIDA at environment and disaster response coordination meetings. During 5 year in employment functioned at the highest level available to locally hired staff.
